Yearning for the GILI Roma 2 or Large Roma. *sigh*

Delighted that GILI is trying to produce more lovely handbags.

However, I find myself yearning for the Roma 2 and large Romas. Occasionally I visit YouTube, just to watch the old presentations, which remind me why this is SUCH a classy bag.

I own 3 large Romas (adore) and the Roma 2 in natural ostrich, black pebble, silver, pale snake, and pink blush. Any other fans still yearning, still loving?

Wow. That's quite a collection.

Sadly the only Roma 2 I tried was part of the edge coating fiasco. I loved my bag at first, but the edge coating on the handles started cracking after only a week's use, and I sent it back. It kind of ruined me on the Roma. I understand they got the problem fixed in the second version, but by then I didn't want to take another chance. My Roma 2 would have been lovely, if not for that.

@1Professor I became more interested in the Roma 2 when it was on its way out. I thought it would always be around. By the time I was ready to order it, the colors I wanted were gone. I was interested in the espresso brown and the orange. It would be exciting if the Roma 2 was remade in some old favorite and NEW colors! Woman Happy

I think this link gives a sneak peek at what might be the new Roma. Jill brings it in during the video for this pouch. New Roma Sneak Peek

What do you girls think?

@Serendipity: Oh, intriguing! Love the shape, squishy hobo, BIG! However, the hardware worries me, it's that hardware that got a lot of complaints, pins failing, when first introduced on an earlier bag.

For anyone who follow Jill's pages for ALERTS, do we know when it will show? Pre-sale??

I own the 2nd incarnation of the Roma 2 (the 1st Roma 2 had problems with the handles or no magnetic closure or somehting??)-- it's my favorite handbag!!!  I have it in black and would purchase more colors in a heartbeat -- except the exotics which I don't like.

Jill said on facebook that this hardware is brand new and there are no problems. Personally I do not like it. It appears small for the size of the bag. I get the feeling that if you really loaded that bag it might  tear away from the leather.

I still long for the Roma 2 in a great navy and red. I am currently carrying the Expresso Lizard(my favorite of the bunch). I have the regular Expresso and have been lucky with the handles. My black one is the original Roma 2 and those handles are good also.

I've always thought they were rather short-sighted (nice way of saying dumb) not to retain this bag as a staple, introducing different options from time to time, just as they have with the Dooney Logo Lock. This bag appeared to be a big seller for them and although there were some issues with one of the incarnations, this would likely have been a bag that would have performed well for them over the long haul. Were the bag to return in essentially the same silhouette, though possibly with some improvements, in an array of different colors (enough with the exotics...) and at essentially the same price point, I'd be interested. I'm speaking here primarily of the Roma 2. I have one large Roma that's rarely used. It's simply too large as a day to day bag, though it would be nice for travel but for the lack of any real closure mechanism.

Don't like it; the handles are too long- it looks more like a shoulder bag than hand/in the crook of the elbow bag (which the original Roma 2 was). The bag looks smaller overall and like the one they've already featured, it won't work for me (Needs to be 15" wide at least).

I CAN see how those who found the ROMA 2 too large will find this a great size, however. ANd if you prefer a shoulder over a hand-held bag; even better. But the big thing will be the price. The ROMA 2 was exciting because of the style, the leather choices, the colors and THE PRICE being AMAZING.

Precisely @SahmIam and unless I miss my guess, QVC will continue trying to make this brand into something it's not and will amp up the price of this bag. No worries, though, if they do, some of us will simply not buy it...
