WOW.. I had started a post under Today's Special Value (the V33667 Snow Joe Telescoping Snowbroom & Ice Scraper).  I wrote that I purchased it from Amazon (without the LED lights) for only $16.17!  QVC REMOVED the Thread!!!!!  I guess we cannot talk about any competition!!!!

That's offensive and just means they're running scared. I suspect if you hadn't mentioned where you bought it @Boehm Collector they'd have a more difficult time justifying removal of the post. Interesting that they didn't even feel compelled to give a reason. At the rate things are going with the weather, I can't see needing one anyway. The broom part makes sense but the scraper part looks small.

@stevieb @Boehm Collector Snow? What's snow? LOL. Smiley Wink

Oh @Serendipity  and @stevieb.. I would be such a happy camper if we don't get any snow this winter!!!

@Boehm Collector, have you used it or is it a gift?

I bought one for our son last night because he works in the ER and may be called in to work.

I thought it would be great.

I guess I should get my husband one but we never go anywhere when it is bad.

Hi @Sister Golden Hair .. I haven't received it yet but will give it to my DH.  I saw it on the Q so i started searching for it on line and found it on Amazon.

Does anyone own the A264009 G.I.L.I Leather Obi Wrap Belt?  It looks interesting .. but not sure whether it is worth $86.00.

@Boehm Collector They sure sold a lot of them BC. This might be a Q for @NycVixen?

Good morning everyone!!! @Boehm Collector @Serendipity

I don't think they are worth the price. I collect belts and I bought better brand name belts from places like Anthropologie on sale lately for 1/3 of the price. So far, I've gotten several obi style belts from them and I'm very happy with the quality for the price (they were on sale).

I would search elsewhere. The truth is, if you buy one of the GILI belts and like it, most likely you will want more than one. It adds up fast. Plus, the reviews state the leather is glued and comes undone. No thanks!

@NycVixen, Is your husband home yet?

I'm so happy for you and I know you feel blessed to have him home for ChristmasHeart

I will also add, he is blessed to have youHeart

@Sister Golden Hair  Yes, he is!!!  I was on the LIRR a two stops away from JFK running about 10 mins late since the train was late and I missed my stop!! There was a young man who had just broken with up his girlfriend and I was listening to him etc. trying to make him feel better and I got caught up.  I had to get off in the next stop and catch the train back. That added an hour to my trip when I was almost there. My poor DH had to wait for me and I'm still feeling so guilty!! Smiley Sad

We got home so late since his flight was already delayed an hour. As punishment, I woke up with a cold today...... he made me a delicious vegetable soup. I'm in heaven.

Thanks for your kind words SGH!!! Heart

Oh @NycVixen.. I am SO glad that your DH is finally home!  I know you missed him so much!  Having him home must be the best Christmas gift ever!!   Sorry to hear you have a cold.  Your DH is so sweet to take care of you!  Feel better soon!!

Is everyone ready for Christmas yet?  Yesterday I finished wrapping all the gifts.  I just have to do some baking ......  and for Christmas Eve I am making a shrimp appetizer to bring to my brother's mother-in-law's house.    My Mom got the recipe from a restaurant in Italy years ago.  It is really easy tp prepare... but best of all EVERYONE LOVES IT.  It seems like I can never make enough.  Each year I make a bit more ... and it still all disappears in minutes!!!

@Boehm Collector, recipe please? I love shrimpHeart

Hi @Sister Golden Hair .. sorry I didn't get back to you last night.  I got home late from work and by the time I finished cleaning the kitchen after dinner I was exhausted.  In any event, here is the recipe for the shrimp appetizer.  I can't give you quantities/measurements as with most Italians it was "a little of this and a little of that".

Shrimp appetizer:    Cook shrimp ( I use the frozen precooked shrimp from the supermartket.. obviously thawed out) in salted boiling water for about 5 minutes. Drain and cut shrimp into small pieces. Add lots of marinated artichoke hearts (they have to be marinated in olive oil .... I use quite a lot), which have been cut into fine pieces. Add olive oil, black pepper and vinegar to taste.

I also have a recipe for Linguini with Shrimp ... but you have to like a lot of garlic....

Linguini with Shrimp:  2lbs shrimp ( I also use the precooked frozen shrimp from the supermarket for this recipe) ; 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup of fresh parsley or 1/8 cup dried parsley , 6 garlic cloves crushed, 1 tsp salt, dash cayenne pepper, 1/4 cup lemon juice or little more. Melt butter, mix all ingredients, add shrimp and toss. Broil for 5 minutes, toss and continue broiling for another 5 to 10 minutes.   Add to cooked linguini.

Thanks for sharing your recipes!!! These sound excellent. I love to cook and my husband does not eat meat (only fish) so both of these are going into the rotation at our house. My family loves garlic and olive oil so these are right up our alley. I think I will make the appetizer for a Christmas party I am going to.

I wanted to order our grandson that lives here (he's 12) a "Star Wars" t-shirt.

Then I decided to order our son one too because we will be going to see it when  they visit.

Then I thought maybe I need one too but no, I decided against it.

It is funny that all these old movies come full-circle.

Yes, Star Wars has come full circle. Actually I used to read the books and there is so much more they can do with the franchise.

My mother sent my son a few Star Wars t-shirts and I just ordered our tickets to see the movie. Can't wait!

Yes, organized...but LATE @Sister Golden Hair

We've thought about some remodeling, but the thought of it freaks me out so much due to all of the mess. I would think everything would need to be boxed up and moved out...sounds like that's what you did? You don't want to get your items dusty, dirty, marked up...plus you need the space for the workers to do their remodeling. Sigh. I told Mr. Lily that if we think we need to remodel we probably just have to move. I would have to box up my handbags for sure! Woman Wink

Oh my EEL @EdithEllenLily be careful what you ask for. I moved a few years back and the experience will go down as one of the biggest nightmares of my adult life... If the remodeling isn't major, there's not any contest as to the level of disription, cleaning and work between remodeling and moving, not even mentioning preparing the new place to move into and the old place to move out of and sell... On the other hand, I have friends who've bought houses only to essentially gut them, which always makes me wonder why they bought them in the first place and didn't simply find a house they actually liked...  Different strokes, I guess.

Hmmm, advice well taken @stevieb!!! Your last move sounded like a huge deal. You are right, when you think about all of the details about moving, selling, buying, etc., it IS quite an undertaking. Woman Surprised

For many people the location is tops. Ours is stellar, so if we're in a bit of a shabby chic house, the fixtures and decor do match the older home in a location that's walking distance to shopping, restaurants and the train to downtown Chicago. It's real brick and the gorgeous yellow Chicago brick at that. Maybe your friends wanted the location and the look of the outside of their home, so they were willing to do all of the remodeling to make it work...

Hi @stevieb ..with the taxes and shipping the one from QVC would have cost almost $27.00.  The only difference between the one from Amazon and the one from the Q was the the Q's had LED lights (which are probably useless).  IMHO the LED lights weren't worth an extra $11.00.  I bought it because DH asked for a scraper.

Hubby purchased one, without lights, at a local store for less money than the TSV!
