@bonnielu.  Are you saying when you leave home, you go forth with your personal possessions in something like a Walmart bag?  If so, I'm speechless.

I 100% agree - Some people wander about giving the appearance of being a derelict, and get avoided as a result.

Have pride in your appearance - Why purchase beautiful clothing if you don't style your hair or have a decent bag? Expense is not the thing - it's the style and neatness of your outfit, it can be something you bought on a great sale, but if it fits well you look like a million dollars!

I love a good handbag but I hate to advertise for a company, meaning I don't like a bag with logos or identifiable as a certain name brand.

I like unique bags that noone has or has seen before, hard to do. haha.

I have a couple of old, worn, sorta western looking leather bags that I love.

As far as brands, my favorite is Patricia Nash, especially her embossed leather ones.

Nash is one of my favorites as well, but I also find vintage leather Lucky Brand bags brand new on ebay, at a decent sale price.

I always look for quality looking bags at a sale price.

Got a few Bembien bags when they went on sale, theirs are also beautiful.

Reading these posts brought back some memories.  Does anyone remember bags sold here by B. Makowsky (SP)?

He would go on and on about ALL the compliments you'd get -- even from strangers on the street.  Well, I fell for that load and bought one in Macy's -- on sale but still close to $200.  I don't think I ever used it -- too heavy with all the metal hinges and do-dads on it -- so there it sits on a shelf.  I'm still waiting for those compliments.

Years ago I was at Nordstroms.  The sales person told me you can tell the level of confidence a women has by the size of her purse.

um, if I were a cashier I would not care to handle a sweaty credit card that has been housed in your bra. Ew.

My first reaction too.  Imagine being the cashier and seeing a woman reaching into her blouse and taking out a CC to make a purchase!

I have a collection of Coach bags--the vintage ones USA made.  They are in pristine condition because I take care of things.  I still carry some of them.  Same with vintage Dooney.

I just haven't bought many in years. I'm not a follower of trends, and I have all shapes and sizes and colors I can use.

@haddon9        That's hilarious.     I had a friend who "didn't believe" in credit cards......and she wore a MONEY BELT.    You can imagine what THAT looked like at the cash register......
