Re: Ruby-throated Hummingbird Spring 2015 migration map

Here in California, I feed hummers year round. Saw one today at each of my feeders. Mostly We get Annas but I have seen Rufous at times. They will come up to your face and scold you if the feeder needs refilling.

Yes, some hummingbird species on the west coast don't migrate. You are very lucky!

I had a hummingbird land on my finger while I was hanging our feeders...lots of fun! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Wow! The RT hummers are definitely in migration mode now! Those that live along the southern coast should start putting out their feeders...

Check the map link below:

We should start seeing the Grackles and the RWBB's any day now too...usually the 1st week of March. The Sandhill Cranes have been arriving in Nebraska too!

Same here in CT! I usually see them mid-May but I want to be ready - I may see an ""early bird"". Although our weather is still very very cool!

Re: Ruby-throated Hummingbird Spring 2015 migration map

I am a total novice hummer feeder! Just started this year. This past week, I put up one feeder on my back porch and had a visitor! I have added another feeder out back and one out front near my soon to bloom red knock out roses. I don't know what type of bird is visiting but it sure is fascinating to watch! My treadmill is near the back porch and I watched it come and go as I worked out! I live in SE VA by the way.
