@tucsongal   This is not oregano, we have this herb, doesn't have leaves like this and you'd smell it if it was.

 

We've had this plant in summers past but I'm not the plant person, my husband is as he's a hort guy. Sorry but I don't know what this is.

It kind of reminds me of a hebe.  They tend to have purple blooms as well. Smiley Happy
