Our lake was ice free the earliest ever recorded by local residents this year. Gone by the end of February. It was cold last night and some light ice re-formed.
Amazing to me that I got three days in the garden in February to clean up some beds. Bragging weather here in Nova Scotia😌.
Lovely weather coming later this week so the ice won't last. LM

This climate change is scary. Did you hear that in Alaska, the had to truck in tons of snow so they could do the Ididterod Dog Sled Race? They had little snow last winter and since everything was so dry, terrible fires last summer.

@Kachina624, you are so right. It's scary. We built our home a little over ten years ago. We didn't think we needed a/c here in NS. We added it three years ago. Our summers are much warmer. We are coastal so we get a fair amount of precipitation but how it comes is changing as well. We now get heavy heavy rains, a lot in a short while. Two summers ago we got 100 mm of rain in 24 hours. Glad I live on a hill!
I completely get why insurance companies are so finely attuned to weather forecasting and climate change as these weather patterns can have devastating effect.
Are you seeing the changes in NM?

We are going to have record breaking temperatures tomorrow here-- no coat needed today.

@Lilysmom Yes, we've been in a drought since 2006. We had high hopes for El Nino, and we did get some rain and snow in Nov. and Dec. but that's been it. We had a 40% chance of rain today and the sun is shining. It's also warmer than normal...in the 70's and should be in low 50's.

I happen to love winter! This winter has been mild with only 1 major snow fall. Today it is 75 and gloriously sunny at the Jersey Shore. I fear it will not last as I remember many Easters in March when it was too cold to wear my new Easter coat, hat and dress.

@lulu2, wow 75! We are a long way from 75! You are one of the few who love winter. I don't mind it for a few months as it gives me a good rest from the garden but, come April, I am more than ready to head into Spring.
Clocks change this weekend. Don't forget! LM

It is 56 degrees and sunny here in the PNW. I would love to get into the yard but I am going to movies and out to dinner. Going to take a short walk along the lake while my hair dries. Rain predicted for the week end.

@DiAnne, we had a few cms of snow and some freezing rain last night but it is melting quickly. Not won't be long now😊. LM
