We were blessed with a nice day yesterday and we finished our fall work outside. Finally planted the 175 daffodil bulbs that have been sitting in the garage, cut down the spent plants and mulched the beds - feels great!

That was a lot of work...Sorry I have to say that now you are winter ready. Those bulbs will be a beautiful spring awakening and with the number you planted it should be glorious.

Oh, just wait until spring! And the daffodils start to bloom. You will be so happy all over again.
Glad you finished your fall clean up. And better yet you could do it on a nice day.

Congratulations, isn't it a good feeling.
I am so glad I live way back off the road as it seems my fall clean up is never ending. The garden beds have been cut back and cleared but many of our trees are still dropping leaves. I've got 2 acres of open area and 2 acres of wooded and a body that just doesn't want to cooperate much anymore.

That is going to SO pretty. I love daffodils and deer don't eat them.

@FastDogWalker2 , I am done this year as well. We had a nice day late last week so I did what was left. I envy you the daffodil bulbs. I was looking for bulbs a week or so ago and none to be found. I cleared some downed trees and they would be lovely in that area. Next year!!!
@Allegheny , me too. Two acres and those oaks do not want to give up their leaves. I leave the lakeside cleanup til spring every year. It is quite a job but the wind down there is cold during winter so I leave the leaves for up Insulation...at least that is what I tell myself!!! LM

@Lilysmom Your pictures of the tree clean up and wood stacks reminded me of when we built our home. A tremendous amount of work for sure. And difficult to get anyone willing to do the clean up work.
We're expecting some severe winds today and tomorrow and that is one thing that causes me great anxiety. Many trees on the hillside behind the house are within striking distance.

@Allegheny , none close to the house. We did take one down that could hit the stone deck. It was perched on a huge granite boulder and we know from experience what that means. I am happy not to have to worry about it this winter. I can hear the wind howling out there now! LM

Been lurking around this forum for a while. I just want to say that I am an avid gardener stuck in the middle of the Mojave Desert (zone 9a) on a small lot in a big city. I envy those of you with large wooded lots and loads of water.
Still working on my cleanup and still planting bulbs, veggie seeds and perennials. Now that I'm retired I'm reworking my beds, taking out old, overgrown, non-productive shrubs and putting in new fruit trees and winter annuals--mostly pansies and snapdragons. Winter is the time to get your heavy work done in my zone.

@VegasBusinessWoman , I hope you will post some photos of your garden. My brother lives in the interior of British Columbia and the conditions there are desert like...vert hot, very dry. My SIL laments gardening so any ideas are appreciated. LM
