I put in the first photo below as a 'before' shot.  Although it doesn't look like much, there are a lot of perennials and shrubs in this bed.  They have all been taken out, the stone border dug up, the crusher dust used to support the stone (5-6") dug up, the pea stone dug up.  We made new borders to suit the new bed sizes.


The juniper is the only shrub that did not survive or get gifted to other gardeners.  Simply too large.

 

The new photos show the pruned size of the hydrangea quickfire.  Compare to 'before pruned' shot above.  Use the red maple and two tall stumps for comparison purposes.

 

The last photo shows granite stones removed and area grasses over.

 

I had no idea how much work it really was.  The peastone removal was a royal pain.

 

I will post some other jobs we did this COVID summer.  We have indeed been busy.
