If you are over 40 and don't look like Christy Brinkley you shouldn't be in a swimsuit or at least wear a one piece.

It's like a swim shirt that protects against sunburn or abrasions. I imagine people wear them for water skiing...snorkeling....

Why do some people not think be before they post Whoa I am 61 and spend my weekend at the town pool, what should I be wearing, a burlap sack. Just an FYI I see all shapes and sizes and most dress appropriate for the situation.

Not wear a swimsuit if you're over 40?! That's ridiculous. Christie Brinkley is 62 - there are tens of thousands of 40 year olds and more who look better than she. I'm 64 and look just fine in a swimsuit. I wouldn't wear a bikini but I do wear tankinis. What am I supposed to wear to the pool or beach?
