Years ago I had a cranberry red velvet blazer from Harold's. I wore it with black pants and a long-sleeve white cotton blouse with rows of tiny vertical ruffles. This was a good go-to outfit during the holidays.

The blazer got too snug, so I gave it to my coworker, who still wears it occasionally.

Sign me up with the 'velvet is a classic' crowd. I wholeheartedly agree, and think it is a lovely, feminine fabric to wear. I don't let current trends rule me; they are created only to fuel the money they make for themselves in the fashion industry by trying to convince us that a fashion trend is a huge no-no now, so we'll go out and buy their next load of stuff & line their pockets; it isn't something created to 'help' us in any way.

I have a deep cranberry sleeveless maxi dress in a stretch velvet. Low back, very Jean Harlow. Love it for a special date during the holidays.

I just dropped off a black stretch velvet button down fitted collared shirt with art deco buttons at the cleaners today. I've had it for years but still wear it and love it.

J. Jill has a new velour tunic featured on their website today. Black, gray and ivory I think.

J. Crew has a nice blazer in regular, talls, and petites. It comes in lots of great colors. (I'm partial to the gray and the pink).

I bought a beautiful Ralph Lauren black velvet blazer about two years ago. Things from RL are always timely and tastefully done. I feel totally comfortable in wearing it.

Love Ralph Lauren's designs for me and my DH, his styles are classics!

I prefer velvet over velour, but I think anything in black velvet for holiday dressing is gorgeous!

Thanks for the pic's gals. Lolakimono that shirt is something I would enjoy wearing around. I have three burnt out velvet scarves and I find them to be the perfect touch around the holiday season.

I have several velvet blazers I wear in the winter time. Do I care if they are the most fashionable...heck no. I wear what I like and what looks good on me

{confession time} for warmth I wear the dreaded velour track suit in the winter. I have them in several colors altho I try not to wear them when Mr. Channing is around because I think they are the epitome of frumpy and matronly.
