Re: The Ever Dreaded Coverage

Not cranky blueroses47, just honest. I don't believe in fluff. I wouldn't even waste my time writing fluff as it is all nonsense written to please I don't know who. I just am TIRED of hearing coverage. There are some of us who don't want to cover everything up. I'm 62 and I take care of my body. I can't imagine putting on all the clothes they describe for coverage on a hot summer day. I spend a lot of time taking care of myself so I don't have to cover everything up. I believe they are catering to the market but I also think they are perpetuating the mindset that is killing people in this country everyday - unhealthy bodies are ok.. It's ok, just cover it up. I am not really referring to you covering up your toes. I don't like mine too much either, but come warm weather, I am in sandals.

Grace, I am not familiar with your posting history here. So I will just answer your original post.Smile

I agree with you about the covering up everything. One morning Gary from Denim and Co was on and every other word out of him was about covering up. Then the host continued to sell most everything she was presenting that it would "cover" a multitude of sins.

My solution to this sales spiel is to stop watching anything fashion unless it is a designer that sells clothing that is beautiful, not designed just to cover.

Re: The Ever Dreaded Coverage

Grace K really???!!! Those that want coverage never said they would like to just throw a sheet over themselves from head to toe and some paper bags on their feet either!! - YOU DID!!! Same difference in what my opinion is!!!

It's fine to give your opinon but the silly statement about sheets and paper bags does not paint a pretty picture of yourself.

I don't like the way too conservative type clothing sold here but obviously many others prefer more coverage type clothing so I shop elsewhere!!

Re: The Ever Dreaded Coverage

There are many reasons that people like to cover up, many of which have nothing to do with being overweight.

Re: The Ever Dreaded Coverage

You don't want coverage......but some do, for bunions or other foot-unattractiveness, for lumps and bumps and other figure imperfections, for crepe-y necks, flabby arms, to cover scars, for cultural/religious reasons, for work-appropriateness, for modesty's sake........for a whole variety of reasons. I imagine the hosts are offering "coverage" because many shoppers want it in one form or another! If you don't want extra coverage, there are many clothing options out there for you!

Re: The Ever Dreaded Coverage

I don't see why so many posters object to GraceK's OP, it was FUNNY! She stated her opinion in a very amusingly worded way.

I'm on the opposite end of the pole, as I've posted above, but her post doesn't offend me.

I tend to look for coverage for those things I don't love about my body, I've always been that way, even as a young girl. Nowadays, it just extends to more and more areas.

But, I see Gracek's point, and I thought she expressed it very well. I don't think she literally feels we should throw sheets over our heads, she was just trying to make a point.

Some days, I wish I COULD throw a sheet over my head, but I always do admire people who are comfortable with their bodies, and are not self-conscious. I can't help it, it's just the personality I have.

I have a sister-in-law, who will wear shorts and sleeveless tank tops out to places that would just be impossible for me, and she is close to my age and doesn't have a perfect body, either. I cover up even at home. When she sees me in my big t-shirt and capris at home on a 90 degree day, she'll say "aren't you HOT in that?"

I don't even try to explain.

That's what I was thinking. At work we have a dress code and have limits around what kind of sandals we can wear.

Another ... modesty.
