Talbots Poplin Beaded Shirt - Review

Here is my review of Talbots poplin beaded shirt, as promised. According to my store clerks, it's an online exclusive, although it doesn't say that online - which is where I did order from. While I ordered a regular missy petite size, I'm now only seeing it available online in women's sizes. Hmmmm....I only ordered it about a week ago; wonder why the non-women's sizes aren't online now? Hmmmm. (Although I do see two different offerings of a poplin diamonte (crystal) button shirt - why two of those and none left of the beaded shirt one? Strange)

Anyway, for those of you who maybe can find it, there is good news and bad news about it. The "hand" of the fabric was just divine - so very soft, it felt wonderful on my body. The fit in petite was absolutely perfect. Petite often doesn't work for me - I need it in T's blouses/shirts for the sleeve length but then sometimes it's too snug in the shoulders when I move my arms and the next size up is too large. This fit was perfection though. So for these two reasons and the fact I got it half price, I was tempted to keep it. But I returned it today for the reason in the next paragraph.

The collar embellishment was crystals and plastic disks. These same plastic disks were used on the bodice - in many different colors - on a sleeveless cotton top I bought over the summer and loved! However, for me they didn't work on this blouse. The blouse could have been elegant but the plastic disks really cheapened the look. And they didn't stay open or lie correctly. On a fun and very casual summer top, they worked great. On this blouse, they just didn't work for me. So I returned it, despite the perfect fit and feel of the blouse. Not spending the money on something I don't love.

I am not quite sure how they handle online orders. I don't know if they fill them through their stores or a warehouse or both?

I have looked at things only to find out they are not available on line. Stock seems to disappear and reappear in my size. It's strange

I think they fill online orders through both their stores and warehouse. I order a fair amount of clothing from Talbots website, especially when they’re running a sale. Some of my merchandise is shipped from a store (as indicated on my receipt) and some comes from a warehouse. If they’re having a really good sale, items can sell out in various categories and sizes quickly.

The first choice is to have your on line order filled from the warehouse. Only if the size and color cannot be filled from warehouse stock will a store search be attempted.
