Why is there so much difference in garment measurements?? Not just across vendors, but different clothing articles with the same vendor??
It is really frustrating. Specially in pant lengths.

I can't figure that one out either. I just returned 4 items from 3 different vendors because of the sizing. I checked the ""click here"" size for each item and ordered accordingly.
The pieces were huge. They hung on me as if they were 3 sizes too big. I am going to have to stop ordering clothes from the Q.
The Q really needs to get some consistency in their sizing. It's a big problem.

Different styles / different fits. Some pieces are designed to be form fitting, others semi-fitted and others loose fitting.
Because of the stretch in knitted fabrics - those garment measurements may have smaller measurements than a similar garment in a woven fabric w/o stretch.
If you know your body measurements and the amount of wearing ease you prefer - it's fairly easy to select the correct size.
Another suggestion is to measure something you already own that fits the way you like and use those measurements as comparison.

You just nailed the 64 million dollar question. I have noticed that both d&co and SG are sizing down by one half inch on all of their new things. This interests me because I am always looking for the next thing that will net a company more money. Just think, one half of an inch off of each size...just how much would that amount to when you are doing 40 thousand of that top? As far as other designers go, I actually find their sizing more consistent than Q brands. Take LDO. If you have bought a certain chest size in his whisper knit sweaters then you know exactly what size you wear in all of them. Not true for any SG top nor d&co.

The major problem is that sometimes it really doesn't matter what the garment measurements say, because the actual article of clothing is way off when you get it home. When I get an item home I measure it very carefully and compare - sometimes it's the same, sometimes not.
I've had things that were as much as 2 inches smaller in the hips than the garment measurements state -- a perfect example is the How Smooth jeans. The original bootcut fit me perfectly in a size 10. When they "IMPROVED" them and came out with the straight leg (which is not what everyone wanted, they wanted the same boot cut in more colors) the garment measurements for the hip and waist said the same as the bootcut. I ordered 5 pair in the same size 10 and when I got them home, they were 1-1/2" smaller in the waist and hips than the garment measurements said. I had to send them all back, and only re-ordered 3 pair in a size 12. They had actually decreased the rise measurements, so I had to get a Tall to get that right, and that meant I had to hem them.
I've had this happen when I order more than one color of a particular item. One coat I ordered from D & Co in 3 colors in medium, fit me in two colors, but one was huge. I re-ordered that one in a small because they said it probably came from a different factory, but it was too small. Finally re-ordered another medium (I really wanted that particular color in that particular coat), and it fit--third try.
One of Isaac's boyfriend sweaters should have fit me perfectly according to the garment measurements and prior purchases, but it was huge-it looked like a baggy coat.
I'm not ordering clothes any more unless it's something I think I can't live without, and so far I haven't seen that.

If you can count on LDO always being the same, then maybe that's what I need to be looking at instead of some of the others! I used to be able to count on SG and D & Co fitting me in a medium, then I had to go to a small in some and medium in others, and now I have no clue. I think I'll be watching Louis next time he's on! (Not that I really need any more clothes)...

Garment measurement???? That's your first mistake, no one buys clothing based on that. That would be silly. First, get a tape measure and take your body measurements. Be honest. Next, forget what size you THINK you wear. Q sizing is different. When you find something you like, go to the sizing tab on that particular item. It's a chart based on body measurements. Follow the chart and don't assume that you should go up or down a size. Just follow the chart. It's easy. It works. You have to do that every time you buy something. After a while, you become familiar with the sizing for your favorite vendors. But after 20 years, I still check my sizing charts every time. I buy most of my clothing from Q v c and I have no fit issues.

Judging from all the posts I've read about sizing, there are a LOT of people who buy using the garment measurements, and I for one don't appreciate being referred to as "silly" for doing that. I also don't need a teacher to tell me how to order clothes from QVC. Maybe you don't mean it the way it comes across, but your post insinuates that no one should have sizing issues if they follow your instructions - and I beg to differ. I will be glad to give you my personal opinion and experience about both the sizing chart and the garment measurements.
I went to the sizing chart for a Denim & Co top that I have purchased and fits me perfectly. I have taken my measurements very precisely and I am "being honest" about it. According to my measurements and the sizing chart, I would wear a Large. The chest measurement on the Large is 41 to 42.5 on the sizing chart. The "click here" garment measurements show a chest measurement of 41.5 on a Medium and 44.5 on a Large. I ordered a Medium, and it was too big, so I re-ordered a Small, and it fits. I have other tops from different lines, and if the sizing chart worked, I would always order a Large, so why do I have to order a Small or Medium to get one that fits? And we won't even talk about pants and jeans...that's a whole other story.
So, based on this specific example (and I have many others), I should order a Large according to the sizing chart, I should order a Medium according to the garment measurements, but the Small fits me. So what does that say about any of the measurement charts? It says that sometimes none of them make any sense whatever when it comes to what you get at home. That goes for LCNY, SG, D&Co and IM. I haven't ordered any of the others.
I'm glad for you if you never have any problems with sizing, but there are huge numbers of people who do according to the forums and individual reviews, and I don't think we're ALL wrong.

Seems like the problem in sizing is just plain sloppiness on the part of the manufacturers.
I just ordered another S.G. skirt only in a smaller size than I had before. Turns out it is actually a little larger than the one I had originally. I have had problems but this brand before but also with Denim and Co. Paying all these return charges when we are depending on the sizing chart to buy in the first place just doesn't seem right.
Maybe I should check with customer service to see if they will give free postage for returns when this happens.
