Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Friday, July 5th)

Good Morning from the steam room aka the great state of Michigan Woman Very Happy  I was up at 5:30 and the fog over the athletic field was so dense, the field looked like a sea of white - almost looked like heavy snow.  It was miserable and humid by 8 am.  Despite my griping about the heat I do love living in a 4 season state.

I hope that everyone is doing okay.

Bird Mama, they keep saying rain, but we are dry as a bone.  We might get showers this afternoon and evening.  Who knows?

I fixed blueberry muffins for breakfast & our ds said "these are so good, what box did they come out of?  I said, "they were made from scratch."  He is a fabulous cook , but they don't eat many sweets.

We went  to the fireworks last night & it was a great evening.  We came back  & had fresh blackberries & SF vanilla ice cream.

This morning  we all went  to the cheese factory, so I am getting ready to  make the lasagna for supper.

My DH is taking our  ds to DQ for lunch.  DS needs a sweet treat.

Our niece & her family  will be here in a few hours.  They are fun company.

I will be fixing a big  breakfast tomorrow & they are all going to Baumgartner's for their  Limburger cheese sandwich fix.  Then its off to the graduation party.

It will sadly all end too soon.

Hugs to all of you.

Same here in SW Pa@ Birdmama. I also love living in a four season state. But it seems like the last couple years we only have two seasons. Very short Spring and Fall. We have been stuck in this hot, humid rainy weather pattern. It's supposed to break on Sunday. Next week looks really nice, mid80's and lower humidity. I wish we could send some of our rain to the areas that need it. We did get to see the fireworks last night. We live up on a hill overlooking Kennywood Park ( a local amusement park), so we just have to walk to the corner of our street for the perfect view. About 100 people up here last night. Everyone claps after the finale. Always a good time!

We have several years where it went from Winter to Summeto Winter @NEvans2   I think last year and this year we had more of a Spring season then we've had in years past.  Sure had lots of rain this Spring.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Friday, July 5th)

Good Morning/Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Bernie.  Sorry about your weather.  Hope your celebration yesterday was nice.  They say that we live in a five season area (winter, spring, dry summer, wet summer, and then wet winter), but  it doesn't fit that description to me.  Lots of hot and dry weather here, and today is certainly not an exception.  I do miss the Fall when the leaves change color, but I can do without cold winter weather, snow, and ice plus the hot and humid weather in Maryland.

Hi twinny -- sounds like you are having lots of fun with your family.  Glad your son enjoyed those muffins.  Blueberry muffins are one of my favorites, but I usually only have them at home (made from scratch) since the ones sold at the stores and restaurants are often full of fat and sugar, plus too heavy for me.  There are exceptions, of course.  I remember having some wild blueberry muffins in Maine that were wonderful.

Hi Nancy E. -- nice that you were able to see the fireworks.  I live in an area (southern Arizona) that could use some of that rain.

I'm back from two exercise classes given by the yoga teacher I had for my OLLI classes.  The first was more aerobic and the second was a chair yoga class.  I enjoyed both, so I may try to go regularly on Friday mornings if my schedule allows.

It was a little cooler on my walk this morning, which I really appreciated.  Next I plan to go to the grocery store -- pretty good sized list, mostly produce.  I love all the summer options.  I made it to the gym yesterday, but spent the rest of the day in the house -- did some reading and cooking.

I think you are wise to make plans for Midnight's passing, Jean, but I am certainly hoping that doesn't happen any time soon.  Sending hugs.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

NancyE, we have four seasons here too.  Fall & winter are my favorite.   June was great.  Three cool weeks and now it's been hot for two weeks. Relief tomorrow as it's supposed to be in the upper 70's & slight chance of rain.  We saw the fireworks at a local church.  It's fun because most people fight the crowds and go to the park where there is a band concert at 8:00 followed by the fire works.

it's hot today, so I am not going out this afternoon.  Our ds is easy to please.  He will be here until Monday morning.  My niece and her family are leaving sometime on Sunday because they have to go back to work on Monday.

Bird Mama, as much as I dislike hot weather, I will never complain about snow and below zero temps.  July & August are the worst.  When we were in Kohl's on Tuesday and It was so hot outside, I heard a lady say that she couldn't wait for it to be -30°.  I said "me either." Then we had a good laugh.  I wouldn't care if it snowed today!

Jean, it's a good idea to plan for Midnight 's rainbow crossing.  Not an easy task for sure.  You have been a good caretaker & that's something to be proud of.

I am having a lazy afternoon.  That could change at any time.

I usually make muffins because the store bought ones have too much sugar and other things that we don't need.  Strawberry rhubarb muffins are my favorite, but we have lots of blueberries, strawberries, peaches, plums, cantaloupe & a watermelon.  There are so many good fruit and fresh vegetables right now & the prices are so reasonable.
