Shopaholics One Day at a Time - August 3rd, Monday

Good afternoon shopping friends.  I hope you are having a good day.  We had some storms blow through last night and are now enjoying lower humidity and temps in the upper 70's, low 80's.  That's my excitement for the day (lol).

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - August 3rd, Monday

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Thanks for getting us started Bernie.  Your weather sounds nice.  It is pretty hot here already, and I think it should make it into the "triple digits" the next few days.  As long as the fans and AC work, I am fine with that.

DH and I had a nice walk this morning, and then I had my strong bones workout.  We need to pick up a couple of his prescriptions, but nothing else planned.  Good thing -- I can start to get ready for our trip.  I'm not packing his bag until I see if the packing cubes arrive, but I can select what we will be taking.  I am also charging things like the i-pad, camera, GPS, etc.

I decided not to tackle/worry about getting a new doctor until we get back from our trip.  I'm still pretty bummed about the whole thing, but.....

Waves to Jean (hope your dental visit went okay), Kathleen, Arlene (hope things are improving for you), twinny, Barbara, Marijane, Charlene, Susan, snicks, Rosa, pinky ann, Gayle, Karen, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - August 3rd, Monday

Good afternoon everyone,

birdmama, glad you are having less humidity, our humidity is back again today with storms possible in the forecast nearly all week. I did get out early this morning to do some weeding in my roses, got so hot that I had to come inside and cool off, then went back out to clean up the mess. Thought I might pass out, lol.

LL, glad that you had a nice walk and strong bones workout, your dedication to getting physical exercise is to be commended, especially in the heat you have out there. Hope your packing cubes come soon. I am so sorry that your DH's doctor has left, going to a new one will be a pita, at least that's how I always feel when I have to go to a new one.

I don't have any shopping on my horizons, except I will at some point need to get some pj bottoms as the ones I have are nearly falling off. I wear t-shirts with the pj bottoms, so only need the bottom half. I did receive the ninja storm that I purchased for hubby's b-day, but haven't opened it up yet, I want to look at the booklet that comes with it and have on hand whatever is needed to make ice cream (I think its mostly just fresh or maybe frozen fruit so that should be easy). Nothing exciting going on here, so will wave bye to everyone.

BIRD MAMA, 70's & no humidity is a lot to be excited about when a lot of the country is very hot right now. I am also singing my praises. Glad you didn't get any nasty storms last night. We got no rain either & we could really use it. LL, I hope that the packing cubes arrive soon & that you both have a great trip. It is maddening to have to get new Dr's. It seems like each time I get new Dr. for a year or two, they are gone & I am searching again. In the last 2 months, I have lost 2 of the original 3 nurses that have been my "Angels" for the past 14 years. It saddens me as they have a difficult time trying to properly access my port until they are used to how it was put in.

SNICKS, Sorry about the humidity returning. You do very well at being able to do the outside work that you do in that kind of weather. I hope that your DH enjoys his Ninja Storm. It sounds like a nice cool treat machine. It sounds like you are in for a wet week again. We might get rain on Friday but not before. I can't complain as it will be in the 70's all week. My "cup of tea" or in my case coffee for sure. FHG, Prayers & hugs coming your way too. It has been a productive day so far. DH went to our dentist this morning & the Dr. was able to cement the crown back in for only $30. I had visions of all kinds of horrible things needing to be done. PTL. Our dentist is only 11 miles away so we drove to the next cute little town 4 miles down the road & did a little looking in the shops. NO buying just looking. I just got up from a 2 hour nap. I really needed to catch up on my sleep. Now it is hot tub time & then DH is grilling pork chops for supper. My project for tomorrow will be to clean our dining table/chairs with the same solution that I used on the kitchen cupboards last month. I usually do this once a year. It keeps everything looking like new & the set is 20 years old. We actually bought the set from a very good wood working shop in Branson, MO before we even built this house.

LindaL - did you mention where you are going?  I hope those cubes get to you in time.

Snicks - yeah girl, get yourself some bottom jammies :-). Does DH like his new ninja?

Twinny - I thought your husbands crown post broke at the gumline.  I am so happy that all that happened was the crown popped off.  Glad the dentist was able to cement it back on (thumbs up).

oooh - had a little excitement today.  I was at work, just minding my own business when towers 500 and 600 of the RenCen lost power.  Security finally said something about it 20 minutes later so I left work and battled traffic.  Imagine - several parking lots and garages emptying at the same time.  If there is ever an attack or disaster - we're in trouble.

BIRD MAMA, When I looked into my DH's mouth all I saw was a small section of tooth at the gum line. The dental asst. told him that it had been recemented in 9 years ago. He didn't remember that either. All is good again for a while. I hope. AAHH! 70's again & the windows are open. JEAN, I hope that you had a good day in the city.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time - August 3rd, Monday

I had no idea what RenCen was Bernie, so I looked it up.  Glad there wasn't an attack or anything.  Is that where you work?  I don't think most places are prepared for an early release like that -- certainly not the DC area where I'm from.  That is where I'm going by the way -- actually Maryland, but the DC suburbs and outer suburbs where my DD and family live.

Happy to report the packing cubes arrived in the mail -- Fed Ex slow poke delivered the package to the Post Office, and they delivered them here. I might as well confess that I used the new packing cubes for me, and the old ones for DH.  I like both, but.....

Very happy about your DH's crown, twinny. What are the chances of that happening -- great!  One time I had a "bridge" (I think that might be sort of a crown), that the dentist said had to be replaced, was falling out, etc.  But, I was about to go on a work trip, and I told him I couldn't be toothless.  Long story short, he sent in his partner, who just glued it back.  That is the one every dentist tells me needs to be replaced, but it doesn't seem to be an emergency.  I'll wait until it is a "need" rather than a dentist "want".

A friend just called to let me know that one of the "newcomers" just received another very scary cancer diagnosis.  She was given a short time to live a couple of years ago, but then got treatment, and seemed to be much better.  Now, she is looking at the possibility of an experimental treatment or just letting things take their course.  She is only in her early 60's.  Prayers for Pam would be appreciated.

I'm almost finished packing, but still have a bit more to do.

Question -- do any of you have portable music players (I-pod) type devices that you love?  I purchased an i-pod several years ago, but it no longer works.  I know many people use their telephones for music, but I don't want to go that route.  Anyway, I would like to know your experiences, even if it is your telephone.

Thanks.

Hi twinny, we are usually humid nearly all summer long, so a couple days of less is always appreciated. This year with all the rain overload has been even more humid than usual. Glad the crown issue was an easy fix.

birdmama, I haven't given him the Ninja yet, his b-day isn't till next week. That WAS some excitement at work today, glad you made it thru the crush of traffic.

LL, glad the cubes arrived. So sorry about your 'newcomer' friend. That is so sad. Will keep her in my thoughts. I do not have any music players, so no help there.

Have a great evening.

LindaL, glad the cubes came and sorry about the news about Pam. I'll say prayers for her. I never owned an I pod, much to my husband's chagrin. He was a technology geek and loved the newest gadgets. I haven't figured out the radio function on my phone yet.I finally changed from a film camera to digital in 2013, ha-ha. Only because I was having problems finding a film lab. Terry is probably telling people in heaven, see what I mean?
