Shopaholics One Day At A Time (Monday, Nov. 27th)

Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

Happy Cyber Monday!!!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, I of course ate too much, but had a nice time visiting with everyone.

Today is the first day of deer season ( another national holiday in Western PA).  This is one day I stay off of the roads, the deer are running and I want to avoid theme.  DH went to his family's farm to hunt.  We will see if he gets one.

I am hoping to get the few Christmas decorations up that we have this week.

Just working around the house today, I have a list of things I want to get done, these things have been nagging at me for awhile.

Linda -  Hope DH is doing well today and is not sleepy for you.

Jean - Hope you had a good day with the kids.

Off now to get some lunch.  Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning and thanks for getting us started, Susan.  Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving and hope your DH enjoys hunting.  Where I grew up (suburbs of DC), hunting was not a big thing.  But, one of my friends lived for a while in PA, and it was huge there.  I think now she is a vegetarian, but did all sorts of things with the deer meat back in the day.

Sorry, I need to leave to visit DH now.  I'll be back later.

Re: Shopaholics One Day At A Time (Monday, Nov. 27th)

Good morning!  Susan - thanks for getting us started today.  Deer hunting isn't big here, though my DH hunts.  I always tell him to stay safe and have fun, then I pray that he doesn't get one.  Around here, deer feed on sage brush and the venison is terrible tasting!

My DS was able to drive from Virginia to Maryland and spend Thanksgiving with his cousin.  We now refer to them as the east coast contingent.  I'm glad they got to spend time together.  I had a pleasant, but terribly busy Thanksgiving, which now includes driving my Mom around, and doing as much as I can to make sure she's not doing any of the work.  To be honest, I wish that my sisters had contributed a little more.  Anyway, I didn't feel well on Friday and Saturday.as a result of having overdone it.  I will need to rethink how, and how much, I do for these holidays.  Did I mention that our warm weather returned?  It was 91 degrees on Thanksgiving day, and other than one day it sprinkled, we've gotten no rain.  We have a plowed dry field planted with $250 worth-of pasture seed but no rain.  Bah humbug.

My DD and I are going to my Mom's house to decorate for Christmas Thursday afternoon.  I think that I will start decorating my own place on the weekend.  As far as shopping goes - I've purchased a few pieces of inexpensive jewelry and some used books when ebay had a good ebucks/refund day..  No clothes that I can think of.  Still on course to have overspent a tad on "luxury" items, and to have underspent on clothing this year.  Overall, I'm hoping that the overspent tips the scales!

As for today, I need to do some watering in the yard - still picking tomatoes from the garden, and enjoying beautiful flowers.  Plus I have a small sewing project to do, and I plan on watching a corny Hallmark Christmas movie or two.  (Don't worry Bernie and Jean, I won't force you to watch any, lol, you definitely need a sweet tooth to watch those!).

Hope you all have a great day.  Waves!  ~  Charlene

Linda -  Have a good visit with DH.

We just get our deer cut into the usual stuff.  DH doesn't get it made into bologna, or jerky.  I wish he would, but, he just doesn't.

Charlene  -  Sounds like you have been busy, you deserve to sit back and watch your Hallmark movies.  Sorry, but I have to side with Bernie and Jean on them.  But, you go ahead and enjoy.

Venison is a tricky thing, if the deer is corn fed and hasn't ran alot, the meat is good.   But, if the deer has ran alot and not such a good diet the meat can be tough.  If the meat is tough, put it in a crock pot with beef stock, celery, onion and garlic and let it cook on low for most of the day.  That can make the meat taste more tender.

Okay, that is the end of Susan's Home Cooking Show.

Need to get a couple bathrooms cleaned.  Have a good a good afternoon everyone.

Hello all,

Yesterday I got the tree up and decorated.  I'll get the remaining decorations up little by little each day after work this week.

Gotta get back to work :-)

Re: Shopaholics One Day At A Time (Monday, Nov. 27th)

Good Evening!  I'm another who doesn't watch the numerous holiday movies.  But, I love "It is a Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Carol" and watch them every year.  Hope you can take it easy and watch the movies you enjoy, Charlene. It is hot here as well, and no rain.  They are saying we will have cooler temperatures (highs in the 70's) starting tomorrow or Wednesday, and there is even a possibility of rain.  Not counting on it, but.....

Glad you got a bunch of decorating done, Bernie.  Hope work isn't too tiring.

Interesting about venison, Susan.  I don't expect to get any meat like that, but I'll keep it in mind just in case.

Hope you sleep well, meallan.  Glad you got much of your decorating done.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.

DH was very sleepy again today, but he did eat lunch pretty well.   I was disturbed by what one of the caregivers told me yesterday.  It did not involve DH's building, but I had a nightmare about it last night.  Anyway, I talked to the director today and got the real story.  I think that caregiver is a real "chicken little".  This is not the first time she misrepresented what happened there.  I am happy I asked, and that I know not to get upset by her stories in the future.

Sleep well everyone!

Hugs,

Linda
