I wore high heels for years. what is did for me...... shortened my arch and flat shoes were actually uncomfortable to wear after that. Finally I am able to wear shorter heels but flats are still hurting unless they are well padded and have a slightly raised heel.

As a 50+ woman, I love heels, but they are harder for me to wear. I have gotten rid of every heel over 3 inches, and I am trying to replace my remaining heels with wedges of similar height which are more stable.
I rarely wore heels for work, but I still prefer them for dressing up for church and other events. When I am the soloist and dressed up, it just looks better to have on heels. I own 2 pairs of sparkly embellished ballet flats that I intended to wear with my really dressy dresses, but I still reach for a pair of heels instead.
I also love flats and loafers for casual wear - never been much of a sneaker gal. I do own a pair for walking the dog.
