SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME -- Monday, February 22

Good Morning Ladies!  Another sunny day here, and we are expecting highs in the 80's again.  They are predicting cooler weather tomorrow and Wednesday, but even our cooler temperatures should reach the 70's, which is very nice in my opinion.

I was a busy bee with taxes, etc., yesterday, and I have been busy calling various places, including the brokerage house.   Glad I did so, since they had not seen the second doctors note, which means that things are not totally settled yet.  The broker was apologetic, and he said he will take care of things as soon as he can (needs to forward papers to headquarters, etc.)  The hospice pharmacy did not deliver DH's sleeping medicine, and I'm totally out.  So, I left a message for the hospice nurse who said he would send in an order when he was here last Thursday.

DH wasn't his best yesterday, and I'm a bit discouraged.  But, I gave him the type of lunch I plan to send with him to the "club", and he was able to eat it.  Hopefully, they will let him continue to attend.  His caregiver came this morning, and said that I should expect changes (negative), just part of this horrible disease.

DH has a podiatrist appointment this morning, and I plan to take a walk later.  Not sure if I will go to the store -- no urgent needs, which might lead to silly spending.

I did not order the TSV yesterday -- just didn't want to spend the money at this point.  And, I do have a vacuum that still works.  The TSV today is cute, but I certainly don't need a leather jacket.  Even if I were thinking about buying one, the pastel colors would not be a good choice for sloppy Linda.

I think Jean is headed to the podiatrist today, hope that goes well.  Waves to Kathleen, Arlene, twinny, Bernie, Susan, Marijane, snicks, spix, LindaR, Rosa, Charlene, Gayle, pinky ann, Karen, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

@LindaLatte

Thanks for starting us off today Linda.  I'm sorry that DH had a rough day yesterday.  In the relatively short time (or maybe it just seems like a short time) that I have been posting with all of you wonderful ladies, I'm struck by how quickly your beloved's condition is changing.  Then again, I have no experience with the disease afflicting your DH.  My experience is limited to lung disease and one type of cancer.

I hope that hospice pharmacy puts a rush on DH's sleeping medicine.

It's encouraging that your DH was able to eat lunch in the 'snackables' configuration.  He has to eat, so I subscribe to whatever works.

Does DH's club have minimum requirements for participation?  Does the member have to be able to perform specific activities?  He seems to enjoy going to the club so I hope he will be able to continue to do so.

I'm on the last of my extended weekend today.  I mailed a card to my sister and then went to the grocery store to pick up peanuts for the squirrels and some groceries.  The moral of this story is - I should have purged my cupboards before I went grocery shopping yesterday.  LOL

Hello Ladies, thanks for starting  LindaL.....I do hope there won't be a problem about your DH continuing to attend his club especially since he enjoys going and it also give you much neede time for yourself which you need.  Like Bernie it seems like this has progressed quickly although I have no experience with this.  Your caregiver sure works long hours .....she is very dedicated.  I hope you get your DH sleep meds today,

Bernie thank you for the follow up on that navy top......I had seen it in yellow strips but didn't notice where it said it came in other colors plus I was looking for a blouse picture  and I see this says peasant......I am glad it comes in misses...and I also discovered the  long sleeve camp shirt with sleeves you can roll up is also in misses.....I like the coral color and also like how the inside of the collar is denim.   I had ordered a flannel black check pullover one with the roll back cuffs and placket that had denim from LE after Christmas that was a steal .    Thanks again for the info.   Hope you are having a enjoyable day off.

It's nice here about 50 degrees but will be going downhill the next few days....rain,snow etc.  I have an early morning hair apt tomorrow  so I hope it holds off till the afternoon..    My new dishwasher came and I'm liking it.

Thanks about it, I did run out this morning to the supermarket...not really needing too much.   Kathleen I hope Kyanne didn't hurt herself jumping out the car window

have a nice day everyone.....Marijane

Good afternoon ladies, hope all is well.

Linda -  Thank you for starting us today, sorry things did not go well for you and DH yesterday.  I like the TSV is nice but, Sloppy Susan is dangerous with light colored things.  I love white blouses, but I have to have at least in the closet because they don't stay white long.

Bernie -  Enjoy your day off, glad you got the squirrels taken care of.  Of course they are glad also.  I am determined to use up what is in my freezer and my cupboards, I keep buying stuff and wonder why I have no place to put it.  I need tonstart olanning my meals a week at a time again.

Marijane -  We have had some nice weather also, and it is going down hill here starting tomorrow.  Glad your are loving the new dishwasher.

Mackie - Hello, and stop in again.

Kathleen -  Hope your dog is okay.

Well, need tonget off the computer and get another constructive thing done here.  I am trying to spend less time on the the computer and more time accomplishing things around the house.

Hope everyone has a great day.

OMG, I am watching the daily "Rope Opera" - yea, my westerns are also on daily for a couple of hours in the afternoon.

As someone who fantasizes about retirement, especially when I have extended 4 days weekends, lol, I literally laughed out loud while watching a black and white episode of Gunsmoke just now.

A lady comes to town to establish a new saloon and long story short, corners Festus against a building to convince him to work for her (construction).  If you ever watched Gunsmoke, you know Festus is a free spirit.

She says to Festus, are you looking for a job?

Festus says, well no ma'am I am not.

It was so honest I just had to laugh.  This could be a you had to be there moment, rofl.

LINDA L.  We have had a mostly great February with only a few cold days sprinkled in.  I am sorry to hear about your DH's struggles & I just hope that he can continue to go to the club.  I am not looking forward to helping mom get her taxes done when we get ours done.

Mackie, thanks for joining in today.

Marijane, I am glad that you are enjoying your new dishwasher.  Have fun at the salon tomorrow.  Your temps are fabulous this year too.

Susan, have fun being constructive.  I was lazy last week & it looks like I won't get much done this week.

Bird Mama, I hope that you a enjoying your last day off for a while.  DH watches Gun Smoke every day.  How much fun to feed squirrels peanuts.  Some friends of ours feed them cobs of corn & they are as big as woodchucks.  How fun for you to go to your sisters surprise birthday party.  My DH had one for me & I think that I was 32 y/o.  It certainly was an insignificant number & when the guests came, my hair was in curlers.  Before blow driers & curling irons.  It was a bunch of people from our under 40's church group.  Our kids were little & went nuts!   One of my surprise birthday gifts was a black fringed negligee.  OMG!!!   A friend had received it for her birthday & it came from Frederick's of Hollywood.  I still have it hidden in the same small paper bag in my undies drawer.  Sometimes when I need a good laugh, I get it out.

Mom had a good day yesterday.  She has been craving a good salad, so we took her to a nice local restaurant for supper.  They don't serve salads at her place.  but it might be for the fact fresh veggies aren't that good this time of the year.

Off to see mom real soon.

DH & I are going away tomorrow for the day.  We are hoping to take mom to see my MIL on Wednesday & treating them both to lunch.  They have been BF's since 1946.  They were both born in the UK & were both war brides.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME -- Monday, February 22

Afternoon, sun is shining but chilly, predicting a major storm for mid week then 0 temps again, I knew the "other shoe" would drop.

Had a return to Q so got to the PO this morn, then dropped homemade chicken soup off at DS house, his Lab is 16 yrs, can't believe it, his brother has been gone for 2 yrs now, they were inseparable, didn't think Starsky would make it after that, he's a black Lab, Hutch was blond, therefore the names, but they were the dogs from hell, too smart for their own good, DS had to duct tape his fridge door as they helped themselves, among other things.

Nothing special tonite as an early day tomorrow at the airport, I have 2 meets (special needs) so it'll be a long day.  Usually I do wounded Military, but they were really short staffed for tomorrow so I'm it & it's a rewarding experience.

Those of you dealing with life's bends in the road, please know that you're in my thoughts & prayers.

Yes my dog flew out the window as i was pulling up in the driveway. I've always put Windows down for her so this is a first. She limited 3 times and took off. I'm thinking she will be sore tomorrow.

I'm very surprised at how quickly Linda's DHs illness is progressing. So glad his DD has been able to visit a couple times and be supportive. I hope they will get that medication to you asap.

I had a really lovely lunch with my best friend. It was nice to see her. I need to run out and buy a few things fit the house. I'm washing clothes and trying to file some papers. The mountain will have to be named!
