SHOPAHOLIC FRIENDS ODAT SAT!

Good morning friends!  I am just trying to catch up on all the posts.  It was a quick trip but I was very glad that I went, glad to be there for my friend, meet her daughter, see some midwestern sights again, hug a bunch of people. So glad to be home. it wasn't a "fun" trip but I am so glad that I was able to go.

Rosa I am so over the moon happy for you!  I hope you are honeymooning somewhere now, haven't quite gotten caught up.

Linda, I think all our hearts go out to you. I'm so grateful you are hearing whispers and getting "signs". I would never try to tell anyone what to do (you know how I am about "advice" and "being bossed" lol) so I just keep you in my prayers that you will be led in the right direction. And not wear yourself out in the meantime.

Thanks for all the comments on DD.  She is missing her home in SD a little bit, but still enjoying the experience. They leave the Philippines tomorrow and head to Viet Nam.  I sent her (21st) birthday boxes but no idea when or if she will get them.

DH and Kyanne are very happy to have me home.  We broke down in Dallas 6pm rush hour.  lost AC and dash lights.  Dad took the first exit and turned the first corner and the car died.  We had to push it to a parking place, just HAPPENED (cue Twilight music) to be in a Walmart parking lot!  Went in, bought a battery, replaced it in the lot and all good.  10 minutes later it happened again.  got off, found a auto store, replaced the alternator in the parking lot and she was good to go.  It wasn't awful, I surely felt God leading us and taking care of us.  One more thing to share - finally called that company that I hadn't heard from in over a week. She offered me the job. So, I'm not getting too excited until I have paperwork in hand - you know how that goes.  Just please keep me in your prayers that it goes through and that it is a good fit.  Thanks to all my Loveys here, and our new posters too!

Re: SHOPAHOLIC FRIENDS ODAT SAT!

Good morning all. Thanks @Rock_chick for the start. Glad you made it home although it sounds like a less than fun trip home. Hope your daughter does eventually get her packages. Good luck on the job.

@LindaLatte, I do hope you don't think I was trying to tell you what to do. Only you know that.

Gotta go, stuff going on here in just a little while and I haven't even showered yet, was to busy chatting on the AMS thread, lol.

Have a great weekend. Waves.....

Re: SHOPAHOLIC FRIENDS ODAT SAT!

Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

Kathleen -  Thank you for starting us today.  Glad you had a good trip, even though it was not under happy circumstances.  Glad everything worked out for you guys when the car broke down.    Hope your new job works out for you.  Is this job by your country or city home?

Snicks -  No hurry, have all day to get ready.  Hope you get everything done today.

Linda -  I don't know what to say, other than you will know what to do when the time is right.

Meallen616 -  Happy Saturday to you also.

Have a lot of little projects to get done around here today, so I had better get busy.

Have a good morning everyone.

Re: SHOPAHOLIC FRIENDS ODAT SAT!

Kathleen--Thank you for starting the thread. I am sorry that you had to return to Iowa under those circumstances. A family death is a sad event but I am sure that you were able to share good memories. It was good that you were close to an exit and WalMart when the vehicle decided to stop on you. Congrats upon the job; I hope it is a good fit for you.

Snicks--Chatting on the AM Style thread can be fun. Whatever you decide to do today, I hope it goes well. You seem to be able to get so much done.

MeAllen--Thank you for the lovely graphic. I hope you have a wonderful Saturday.

Susan--Have a good day. I know you will be focused and get much done.

Linda--You will make the decision that is best for you and DH. I know decision time is happening sooner than you expected. I have been there in your situation. I knew that I could not provide the care 24/7 with little help so I made the decision.  It isn't an easy decision and it is one that you must make. Hugs!

It is a sunny day, but I am not overly motivated. I am, however, going through drawers where I have stashed things to see what can go. I even have little extras from hotels to use for travel which have been parked for some time. They can go.

Re: SHOPAHOLIC FRIENDS ODAT SAT!

Hello all - I started my morning at the dentist.  Nothing wrong, just a test fit of a wax partial.  I pressed my dentist to go with a flexible partial and she is working with a new lab so the process involves a test fit with a wax model.

I was out in no time and headed off to the mall to return one blouse and the three pair of pants I ordered from JCP.  I need to go down a size in the pants and blouse.  I've lost no weight and ordered the size I usually order - so it has to be the style of blouse and pants.

While at the mall, I wandered into Lord and Taylor and bought a pair of boots that I've had my eye on (online).  I signed up for a L&T credit card to get the 25% off.  The grey suede shabooties weren't in store, so I used the credit card number to order them online.

Two new pair of shoes for less than a new oryany bag that I liked, until I saw he god-awful whipstiched handles.  Wow, that oryany bag had potential but the ugly handles did it for me.

L&T will never make any interest off of me on the card so I don't know how they will feel about the arrangement, long term.

Shoes do something for me that clothing and bags don't.  I'm really happy after shoe shopping, rofl.

Re: SHOPAHOLIC FRIENDS ODAT SAT!

Good Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Kathleen.  Glad you were able to be there for your friend.  The trip back was certainly interesting -- glad your breakdowns happened near stores where you could find needed parts.  Also glad your Dad knows how to do the repairs.  I remember driving from Maryland to Arizona once, and one of those "lights on the dashboard" suddenly showed up in Arkansas.  I can't remember what the light indicated, but I went into a gas station in the middle of no where, and the mechanic was out for several hours.  The clerk suggested we could probably make it to a Wal-Mart up the road, and we did go there to purchase antifreeze or something.  Anyway, I took it to a garage here, and it wasn't a big issue (fortunately), and they were able to repair it without too much expense.

I hope that job works out, and I am praying for both you and your DH.  Where is the job located?   Really hope your DD receives her birthday gifts sometime near her birthday.  My "Army" DGS turns 21 in December.

I do appreciate all your prayers and good wishes.  Don't fear that I think that any of you are trying to "boss me around" or "tell me what to do."  I value your opinions, and I am comfortable that I have considered the options and made the best decision that I can for now.  I think I have struggled with every aspect of DH's disease -- it is very difficult to accept what is happening.  And, I certainly did not want to give up on him recovering or at least staying stable for many years.  But, I am a realist, and that is just not happening.

Hope you got your shower done in time, snicks.  I decided to wait until after my workout to take my shower, and I'm sort of glad that I did.  Wow, was I sweating this morning.  It was so nice for the hospice volunteer to sit with DH, and she will be coming again next week.  DH slept the entire time she was here, but she is used to that happening.

Hi meallen -- another lovely picture and sentiment.

Good luck with those projects, Susan.

Glad it is sunny there, Jean.  It is sunny and quite hot here, with no chance of rain.  Good day to stay in the AC and fans.  It is funny about those little toiletries.   I found I had so many travel items despite not doing any traveling for a year or so, and threw out many that I didn't think could be used by others.  DH had collected tons of things from hotels that were also disposed of.  Unless I start traveling like crazy, I still have plenty of those little items.

Happy you were able to get those boots at a good price, Bernie.  That is interesting about the clothes at JCP.  Strange that the sizing is so different than normal.  Hope the partial will fit well.

Hi 3suwm5 -- glad to have you posting with us.

Waves to Arlene (glad the semester is almost over for those classes), Marijane, Essie, Charlene, Rosa (congratulations again!), Karen, Barbara, twinny, Gayle, pinky ann, LindaR, butterfly, and all of our posters and readers.

Have a nice evening everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLIC FRIENDS ODAT SAT!

Bernie--A "shoe-aholic" truly understands the pleasure you get from a great shoe purchase. I went a little overboard with that last year, so after I purchased the Alegria TSV sandals, I have reigned in the purchasing. This has been made easier from the reality that while in stores, I haven't seen much in my size.

3suwm5--Thanks for joining us. Post whenever you can. We all lead diverse lives, so the more the merrier.

Linda--You have a good outlook on things and have dealt with adversity as well as pleasure. Yes, the situation is escalating faster than expected with DH but you took the precaution of checking things out and planning so that when a decision had to be made, it was not one done in haste but one done with information, great thought and with no denial of circumstances.  I wondered today if you were buying the TSV as you had mentioned that possibility based upon information in the presentation.

I spent a couple of hours this afternoon reading and am now watching a movie streamed from Netflix. Tomorrow makes the official weigh in day to see how the new routine is going. When you get older, the declining metabolism doesn't permit too much straying from the accepted calorie range, etc.  I do like the TSV but I can walk, etc. without it using a pedometer I have. The thing that appeals to me about it is the constant heart rate monitoring as well as sleep.

Re: SHOPAHOLIC FRIENDS ODAT SAT!

Yes, I purchased the TSV, Jean.  I know I could do without it, and I have been wearing my pedometer for eight years or so (not the same one, but....)  I have been looking at/considering a fitness monitor for a while, and I discussed this with ladies in the caregiver group as well as my DD.  In the end, I decided that I "needed" something to make me smile now, and hopefully, this will do the job.  I did use easy pay, which is not the norm for me.  But, that makes me feel like I could return it with less hassle than paying all at once.  I know that doesn't make any sense. LOL  After my accident a couple of years ago, I treated myself to a Vitamix blender, and I have loved it.  So, maybe this will be the same.  I am curious about some of the features, particularly the sleep monitoring part.  I read a comment on another thread that this was just a gadget and a way for the company to make money off of people who think they "need" it.  Probably true, but I haven't talked myself into the "need" part.  Just "wanted" a fitness tracker and a smile.
