When you shop for a rain or all weather coat, do you prefer a hood or not?

Do you turn down coats because of hoods?

I love hoods and use them, especially in parking lots when it rains.

Hoods.  I live in the land of "When It Rains Your Umbrella Turns Inside-Out Instantly" so at least I can hang on to a hood with one hand.

If I am looking for a true raincoat (to be used when it rains) then I LOVE a hood.  If it's more of a fashion look (trench coat type) then a hood is not necessary : )

I have a beautiful JR Trench Raincoat that doesn't have a hood. 

It sits in the closet.

Don't ask me why I bought it cuz it makes no sense to me not to have a hood to protect me from the rain since I don't own/wear hats....and the days of my mom's little foldable plastic rain bonnet seem to be gone.

Not keen on having a soaked head at my desk all day!

I will not buy any coat with a hood.  Majority of them are not detachable.

If it's a true raincoat, I want a hood.

All my raincoats came with hoods.  Comes in handy when there's rain forecast but not yet raining.  Keeps my head dry until I can get the umbrella out.

Personally, I prefer an umbrella in the rain.  A hood is not much use in a heavy downpour and you stiill have several blocks to walk.

I use a Totes bubble umbrellas in the rain.

I have two real raincoats, one from Dennis Basso and one from Hal Rubenstein from HSN.  Both happen to have hoods but I bought them because of the beautiful prints.  I have never owned an umbrella, so those hoods do come in handy.  I no longer feel like getting soaked like a duck.

The once or twice a year that it rains enough to require even a rain coat I want a hood. Umbrellas are at pain.
