Oh, and if the clip I just watched online was the one being referenced here...no big deal for adult ladies to shake their hips to the music.

I hope CS is reading these posts and learns that we all don't think like the OP and the few others who've agreed with her.

I agree with you, too, september. I'm not discounting anyone's right to an opposing view, but I do find it a bit puzzling. Sometimes I wonder if some viewers simply don't care for the vendor herself, or her product line, hence the negative comments. I know we sometimes see this with other vendors, so it's not outside the realm of possibility.Smile

I never took my kids shopping with me when I was shopping for clothing or make-up and such, and I wouldn't have them watch a shopping channel with me either. When my grandchildren are around, generally I'm not watching the Q, I'm doing something with them. If they are here spending the night and off doing something on their own and I tune in to the Q and they walk in, they don't even give the tv a second look, it's not interesting to them in the least.

I seriously doubt a single child was emotionally scarred by catching a glimpse of the dancing that takes place once in a while on the Q.

ETA - I find the idea of someone making their small child sit and watch the Q with them a whole lot more troublesome than fully clothed dancing!

No one said anything about "making" their child sit and watch the Q ... it's not like they sat the child in front of the TV and forced them to watch. Geez.

Perhaps "making" was too strong a word. The OP said in the first post she was sitting there with a friend and her child watching QVC. She didn't say the child was playing while they watched, that came later to defend the child watching with them.

QVC is not adult programming in the way that term is normally used, but it is NOT children's programming! It is for adults shopping pleasure. If you have a child that you don't want to see certain things, then the onus is on you to not have the programming on whether it is QVC, the news or other programming you feel is inappropriate. It's unreasonable to expect adults to see only "child proof" programming because some people don't want to give up their viewing pleasures when a child is in the room.

If something like this comes on any channel that you don't think a child should watch, do as you did tonight and change the channel. I would not want the Q to censor programming because children may inadvertently see something that some people think is objectionable.
Of course they expect children will be watching QVC. That is their marketing audience - parents and grandparents. QVC wants that TV turned to them and know full well children will be around. They want children seeing toys, saying: "I want that." If parents start to feel that QVC programming is inappropriate for their children, then QVC is going to lose a lot of business. And it's not just childten. Having Monica shake her butt in my face while twerking around is not my idea of good salesmanship. Personally I thought it was off putting and a bit gross.

I can't believe what I'm reading here. Young boys watching QVC? Why would they be interested, dancing or no dancing?

And women calling customer service to complain about a few dance moves? And escalating the intensity by asking to speak to supervisors?

If I ever get this to the point that I'm so upset over something like this, I'll know it means I need to find something to do with my time. Start a new exercise program, join a book group, find a new hobby...anything but pester customer service with calls about this!

oh thank the lord you worded that so lovely, i second the request that some here need alot more exercise and not so much time pounding keys. try pounding the pavement for a while you might get some fresh air and realize there are wars and hungry people in the world. just breathe girls

I know this has been said before, but change the channel! OP implies she has seen the anti-juggle dances before and doesn't like them, so why not just turn Rene off ASAP?

It's far easier (and far more possible) to change yourself than to get someone else to change. I think that advice which so many counselors use when they talk about personal relationships applies to retail also.
