I had an MRI this summer and had to wear a gown BUT...I had 3 shots in my spine this fall and believe it or not I wore my street pants into the procedure room!

I had to take everything off from the waist up but left my slacks on.....plus I had to prep like I was going to be in a sterile environment...I thought it was just ridiculous that I wore my slacks into the room (shots were into my lower spine) but had to take my bra off!!

That's because there is metal ( hooks and underwire) in bras!

I'd forgotten the turtleneck I wore through airport security had metallic threads.  YIKES, you would have thought I was smuggling assault weapons as well as drugs.  I was quickly ushered into a cubicle.

Don't they usually put you in a paper gown for an MRI?

Re: Quacker factory clothing and MRI warning!

Well, I've learned something new about silver nanotechnology after noticing the quacker tag.  Why they use this in casual wear is a mystery to me but I get the use in athletic clothing although I wish it wasn't used at all since it's toxic to aquatic life.

To be safe during an MRI, always change out of your street clothing.  You never know if you have this nanotechnology in your fabric.

I actually like the idea that the tag is there as a reminder. I do not find it odd, but a good reminder. Smiley Wink

I guess you could wear a pullover sweatshirt and sweatpants to an MRI.  Doesn't appear to  be any hardware on them.

Re: Quacker factory clothing and MRI warning!

It isn't about the obvious hardware.  I am talking about the fabric itself.  It's the particles in the fabric that are a problem.  The hardware is a different issue but at least you can see that.  Knowing if silver nanotechnology is in the threads of the material is the issue I was speaking of.  You could have on pants with no zippers or obvious metal and they could be a problem if worn during an MRI.

I see, thank you.  I should have said an "all-cotton sweat suit."

Re: Quacker factory clothing and MRI warning!

@ValuSkr sorry, I wasn't directing my response to you in particular.  Just reading through the thread it seemed to me people missed my point that the fabrication appears to be a problem and from what I've gathered, a somewhat new issue when it comes to MRIs.  Most of us know about zippers, etc. but threads of fabric is a new one for me.

I read someone had on athletic wear (sounds like it had no hardware on it) and felt burning in the machine.  I had no idea this could happen until I saw the QF tag and did some research.
