Quacker factory clothing and MRI warning!

[ Edited ]

I recently bought a pair of plain pants from Quacker factory.  There is nothing other than the zipper, heart on the pocket and button that stands out (no other bling or grommets).  Anyway, I noticed a tag on the pants that warns

"This garment may contain metallic fibers, threads, yarns.  Garment shall not be worn near or during MRI procedures". What on earth?   Anyone else see this and think it is odd?  Wonder what is in the fabric on these pants.

No , it's not odd in fact a great reminder that you are not allowed to wear anything with metal during an MRI. That includes metal zippers , embellishments etc.

I think they're saying "there could be"  other fibers to cover all bases since so much Quacker has metallic junk on it.  There are pants with rhinestone zippers at the ankle,  metal decorations up the leg and on the back pockets.   They probably put the same label on all the pants regardless of the style.   It's not in the fabric,  it's on the fabric.   Not odd.

I think it's odd but guess they are trying to cover all bases.  It does refer only to metallic fibers, yarn and threads, not especially zippers and the like.

If there is metal in the thread or fabric, I'd rather they just admit it upfront.

No, it isn't odd at all.  I respect the QF team for putting that warning on the tag.  Anyone who has ever had an mri or a bone density study for that matter knows that you cannot have any metal on your body or clothing.  Obviously, there was metal in the embellishment or if the fabric had sparkle, there was metal in that.

I'm an MRI technologist and I say THANK YOU QF!!  That message helps to warn folks that there may be some metallic threads in the fabric which could heat up and burn the patient (in some situations).  They could possibly also degrade the images.

Lululemon needs that warning also.

Yikes, sounds like there could be lots of clothing out there that would be incompatible with an MRI.  I know this warning was not on the QF pants that I purchased a year ago so this seems to be a new development.

Sounds like it's safest to change out of clothing into a gown or something similar before having an MRI,  just in case.

Don't they usually put you in a paper gown for an MRI?

Re: Quacker factory clothing and MRI warning!

I had an MRI this summer and had to wear a gown BUT...I had 3 shots in my spine this fall and believe it or not I wore my street pants into the procedure room!

I had to take everything off from the waist up but left my slacks on.....plus I had to prep like I was going to be in a sterile environment...I thought it was just ridiculous that I wore my slacks into the room (shots were into my lower spine) but had to take my bra off!!

Not odd, considering all of the embellishments and adornments that are in and on Quacker Factory clothing.  Those are some shiny and blingy clothes.
