Pricing difference for different colors

I saw this first with Dooney & Bourke handbags and didn't understand it!

Now I came across it in a tunic from C. Wonder.  The white color was lower priced than an olive one.  It is not size, it is color.

Anyone know why this would be?

Maybe they are not selling in that color?

Re: Pricing difference for different colors

I see it all of the time with companies like LLBean, Landsend, Christopher & Banks and many others.

They are trying to clear out last year’s colors or trying to sell a color that is not moving.  Sometimes they only have a few of that color left and want to get it out of inventory and make way for some new shades.

i like to take advantage of the lower price if it is something I need.

I saw the same thing over the weekend with a Barefoot Dreams cardigan.  Three colors were on sale for about $100.  Two colors remained at $130.

QVC has been doing this for awhile.

It appears they are clearancing out some colors that either aren't selling well, are out of season or they don't have a lot of, while the others are the reglar price.

This also happens on various websites selling handbags. They clearance spring/summer colors in the fall/winter while the other colors remain the regular price.

As others have said, I see this a lot in store and on-line.

I assume it's because they want to get rid of the colors that didn't sell, the colors no one wanted.

Out of season colors they want to clear out.  No mystery there.

Yes, discounting some colors and not others is a very common business practice.  I just got a steal of a deal for golden yellow fleece pullover that they had deeply discounted early this month.  Only true autumns in color analysis look good in this color, and I snapped it up becaue it was a color I look good in and very discounted.  So watch those season ending sales for good bargains.
