Re: Ponchos, Capes, Long Cardigans, etc

I agree with so many ponchos and capes each year.  I have a really long sweater coat- it's collared but don't see many LONG dusters from past.  Maybe I've been asleep for a few years.  But I DO love the look of the longer slim cardis & really haven't seen many until this year.  NeNe's version was a bit too long- unlesss you wanted petite I guess.   While it's been very few, I've never liked anything from this line that I've tried in the past, so I usually skip over her stuff.  There's plenty of other 'designers'.. which too is questionable term for items that celebs put their names on.

"G" is without a doubt a designer.  I don't know about Lisa R. and I'm pretty sure at least starting out NeNe  put her name on pieces HSN selected for her- those that she liked.

I love the long slim cardigans but I only want a couple of them and only if they look very different. I don't want to be known as Duster Lady.

Re: Ponchos, Capes, Long Cardigans, etc

I'm pear-shaped, and I find longer cardigans (below the hip) very flattering. I have a long torso and short legs, so I like them to cover the line between my hips and legs!

Never say never...but I don't see myself wearing a cape or poncho. They are two of the many things I love to see on on other people, but won't wear myself. I think it takes a certain confidence to pull of a cape, especially.

Re: Ponchos, Capes, Long Cardigans, etc

I wore ponchos and capes in the 70s. I think a few pictured here are cute, but I am not going to wear that style again. I don't own any duster length cardigans either. They are just too long and too much fabric for me. They would totally drive me crazy when sitting or moving about. I think they look better when standing and posing, but that is not my life.

@wilma

I can understand your point, but I like long cardigans for the very reason you don't.  The coverage is there when sitting in a cold restaurant or movie theatre and are perfect for flights. Bring on the material when done right- a more slender profile.  I'm not a germ-a -phob, but do like my rear and legs being covered when sitting on a plane.  Some people use blankets but with a cozy cardigan, no need to bring a blanket, and no, I wouldn't use one supplied on planes.  In a longer cardi you have good coverage from top to bottom.  I'm not a fan of cardigans made in a swing style which have excess material rather one that is streamline, slenderizing and hits about mid-calf, so when seated if it happens to ride up a bit you're still well covered.

Those Maude lonnnnggggggggg duster sweaters just make me laugh.  The keep coming and coming.  It's like Q v c thinks they are the height of fashion.  I'm sure the women who like them don't want a closet full of them.

@chrystaltree-

That Maude look isn't flattering, and I sure don't like them in vest styles.  I  agree-  two in my wardrobe is enough.

@Funloving

All your points make sense to me. I'm glad you like them. I have just never really liked really long clothing items, whether it be robes, coats, sweaters, dresses, etc. We all have our clothing preferences. Enjoy your pieces!
