Hello, my name is Tends2dogs and I am a nincompoop. But really, aren't we all when it comes to this? In your and others defense, the mirrors in the GW boutique and really, all thrifts are like the mirrors at a circus.......deceiving. And I swear they play subliminal music........you need this, looks great, takes years off......you get my drift. So it really isn't our fault. ![]()
We have all stood in that white box (the dressing room) looking for the hidden camera (did I actually write that?) and imagine the scenario where we would wear Najavo print leggings.....apple or pumpkin picking on an Indian reservation. A nehru long shirt......always wanted to work behind the counter at CVS, or an argyle vest....are they still having live audience shows at QVC? Isaac would love seeing this darling, right?
Actually I am pulling your leg, @MacDuFF . I have stuffed the "buy or find" of a lifetime into a donation bag, too many times. Once it is dropped off it is out of my mind. If it is still in my closet, it is a constant reminder of my nincompoopancy. ![]()

#1 Looks fine on you, however, the pants don't seem to be your style.
#2 Just NO
#3 Although I like the argyle & the outfit looks nice, I think the v of the vest is a too low.

Print Pants - I love print pants in the spring and summer but not those. The print is too large and the pants too short.
Argyle Sweater Vest - I like this vest and especially the pink loafers. I think the white blouse is throwing it off. Try a dark grey or a pink blouse.

You look good in all of the outfits! I think the pants in the first picture would be cute in the spring/early summer with sandals and a summery white top. I do understand though not feeling comfortable wearing an article of clothing after you buy it. I bought a checked top that I thought was cute when I tried it on but now the print reminds me of a picnic tablecloth. 😁

Quite frankly @MacDuFF , I think you are far too critical of yourself. It would take a heck of a lot to make you look bad, girl. Everything always looks good on you!!🌻🌸🌹👗👚🥼👖👠🥿👡👢🎒👗👚

I have two pairs of print pants that are a beach pant style and I will wear them but my nincompoop moment was buying three more that I never wore. Purged those last week and tackled my collection of ankle pants. I realized I was only wearing black, navy, and shades of khaki and donated the rest. A complete waste of money sitting in a large plastic bag. I hope someone will enjoy them.
@MacDuFF I think the pants looked very nice on you as far as cut and fit, but the pattern was a miss for me too. You have a good eye for what flatters your figure and fits in your life style. I may not comment much on your fashion posts but enjoy reading them and your observations on style.

@MacDuFF I think it was Marie Kondo who said--and it made me feel ever so much better--that sometimes, the process of buying an item was where all the value was for you. And that the monetary value of the item was therefore irrelevant. It wasn't a waste because you achieved what you desired in that moement, which was the feeling you got twhen you selected and bought the item. Therefore, you can cheerfully release the item for someone who would be thrilled to have it and maybe wear it to death.
If there's anything negative in your story, it's not the pants themselves, or that you don't care for them now, but the fact that you are blaming and criticiing yourself for them. And I've been reading your posts, and I don't think you really want to feel like that!
Kiss them good bye and wish them bon voyage! Give yourself a hug!

@AuntG I always say a little prayer when I put something in the donation bag that someone will be overjoyed to find it, wear it in good health and love it.
Thanks @Dragonfly416
@lolakimono Love those denim friendly Sundance boots!
@Calcgirl It's good to know that I'm not the lone nincompoop haha! I exercise, if you want to call fast walking around the house in my jammies exercising, every day for 25-30 minutes, and generally try to eat healthy...not an easy thing to do married to Handsome, believe me.
Hi @depglass Yeah, but I'm not taking this particular mistake very well, am I.
@Jrzgirl Agree, the outfit is okay, but yeah, it's the kooky krazy print on the jeans. Good point on that too-low v-neck on the vest...I noticed that after I got it home UGH! I have a pink necklace that I think will work to camouflage that, but it is kind of odd.
@DiAnne I'm just not a big fan of printed pants...not totally against them or anything, but, you're right the print is too large and too bold and too too much! (See pic below). I like your idea of a pink blouse rather than white...I'm going to keep the vest for now and look for a pink blouse while thrifting. Good idea.
@itsmagic Oh dear! haha! Picnic tablecloth is definitely not a look I'd go for either!
@Trinity11 I admit I'm royally miffed that I went against my better judgement on these purchases, and let's not mention the wasted $$! But, I was kind of ribbin' on myself, too.
Ouch @SunValley ...I know the feeling. I believe someone will enjoy and love those beach pants. It ain't easy, but try not to think of the $$!
@KaySD I swear I'm not that upset about it...no, really...unless you consider kicking myself in the butt and stomping around berating myself as upset. But, no, honest, it doesn't bother me that much!

@tends2dogs Hahaha! Apple picking on an Indian Reservation! You're too funny! I hear ya...I can't wait to get that donation bag out of the house hahaha!
Here's a close-up of the jeans...see what I mean?? Now, don't get me wrong, I truly love Southwestern wear...I drool over the Sundance catalog. But these?? C'mon! Humongous, garish, ridiculous print I tell ya!!!
Anyway, I thank you all for your nice comments and wish you a joyful, hopeful, encouraging week! Take good care.

I think the tunic in #1 is fine, but the Aztec print pants are definitely not my style. I don't like the beaded tunic in #2. It's way too long IMO. The argyle vest is ok, but I'd like it better if the v-neck wasn't so deep. I'm not loving the colors in it either.
As far what I do with mistake purchases...
I might laugh at myself, wonder what I was thinking, and tell myself that was a stupid purchase, but I don't dwell on it. I'm a ruthless purger so if I don't like it, it goes! I don't try to "make something work" that I don't really like. As a master of fact, trying to talk myself into a reason for keeping something is a " red flag" for me to get rid of it.
