@KrimpetteWell, that depends on your ankles.  My ankles happen to be one of my best features.  Narrow and well defined.  Gotta keep the attention off of my tummy, lol!

Same here!!  Plus I have very nice looking feet too.  I know a lot of people don't care for their feet & toes but since it's one of my best features along with my nice ankles, I will play them up by wearing crops & sandals.  I make sure my toenails are polished.

Now my knees & thighs are another issue and I prefer to keep them covered.

Couldnt resist.  I found this.

Looks like pics of me, attempting to wear "Ankle Pants,"  esp now that I'm a squished, 5 inches shorter than my former youthful height.

This below   youlookfab  pic/gif reads:

An opinion that I just don't share.  To me none of them look dumpy and they all look like they have nice legs.  Now the skinny jeans with heels just look silly to me and uncomfortable.

Dresses & skirts come in all lengths from above the knee to somewhere at the ankle.  How is a dress that comes down to a tea length any different than a shorter pant?  A dumpy style is a long casual midi dress with a full skirt....just my opinion of course.

@haddon9

Good points. I agree.

Of the 4 photos, my least favorite is the denim skinny jean with pumps. That looks seems dated to me. The other 3 look fine. That's JMO.

I just returned to my above cut & paste url.  I didnt realize it's an article about these pants from 2009!!

It also mentions Audrey Hepburn wearing her clipped ankle pants in Funny Face.  That body!  Esp given her life long desire, & professional training as a ballerina.

Oh!    And I happened to see this below saved pic on my puter also.  Our VP does look good in these ankle pants, this length, imho.

Looks like I titled the pic:  "Child-Ruby Bridges -fr Normal Rockwell art--on way to school-accompanied by US Safety Guard--and Kamala Harris as 1st woman-Person of Color elected VP to WH--Artist Bria Goebble"

@JoyFilled Warrior   Don't forget about how stiff they are and oh those way too wide bell bottoms they have too.

These pants are just downright plain UGLY. Who would ever buy and actually wear these type of pants? How many actually spend money on these things?

We didn't even wear pants remotely like these back in the 1970s when pretty much anything was 'in style'.

@sunshine45  I loved Mary Tyler Moore!   see.....she looks bad in these ankle pants.  We have  It  all and it depends upon the figure, skinny and tall.  The skinny ankles, etc, is well.....just bad for us. At least for me.

I never could wear them.  And that goes for cropped bell bottom too. I really depends upon your figure.

They are all good. But better for the petites....no shortening  involved, yay!

PS.  I watched that show as a little kid and I did not like her pants even then. I asked Mom there is something off.

Re: Our "High Water Pants" as Fashion Stmt

I haven't even heard the term "high-water pants" in about 30 years.

Fashion changes.  It's what makes you happy & comfortable.

I don't wear slips or pantyhose or girdles either.  I left those behind too (I actually never wore a girdle).

I love slim ankle length and some slim crop length jeans and pants, in fact they're my favorite pants all times of the year.

My full length pants are usually boot-cut jeans, or wide leg flowy pants.

I think capris have been around for at least 70 years.  I have a picture of my mom at the beach when she was young and she was wearing white capris pants.  Pedal pushers have been around for many decades.  The names changed but there's nothing new about the styles themselves.  The names might change but the styles are classics.
