@Carolm Try the Maggy London brand. They usually fit well. If you find a dress you love but it still has fit issues it's well worth taking it to a tailor. Maggy London dresses do tend to be dressier and conservative.

 

Calvin Klein has nice dresses too. You can find bargains on them. Good sites for dress bargains are Lord and Taylor, Saks Off Fifth, Neiman Marcus Last Call.

@Carolm You probably need to avoid florals they are very difficult to wear for the older set.  Try a solid.
