My family swears by them! My two daughters are very active (hiking, swimming, skiing, etc). They say they are the best to keep them warm and comfortable without encumbering them when they exercise.

My oldest daughter has visited China and Hong Kong several times (brother-in-law lived there for a few years).

She was able to get these jackets for next to nothing there. Not knock offs these are the real deals.

I have 2 North Face coats that I absolutely love. The Metropolis is the most common one you see around is great for most of the winter here in New England and I think I wore that almost every day. I also have the Arctic something.....sorry Arctic is in the name and that is heavier and more wind resistant and waterproof for the below zero days. Bought both of these for 1/2 price on sale at REI a couple of years ago. As others have said Patagonia is also awesome as well as Mountain Hardware. Patagonia and Northface do tend to run smaller so I just size up. They are very well made and have n excellent guarantee similar to LLBeans.

Wow! Thanks, everyone, for the awesome replies. Nordies is having the Metropolis coat on sale,so I will check that one out. I have an REI near me,so might venture there also. Columbia sounds interesting, too. Much appreciated!
