@gertrudecloset

I wanted those Wine color boots but they're gone in my size. I think they are nice.

Those Sporto Boots have side-zippers.

I did say that in my post above.

Good tread on bottom, too.

I like the burgundy color.  I already have a pair of burgundy boots, but the heck, what's one more pair?  LOL.

@SilleeMee  I like the ease of the bungees on those boots, and I think I saw that they zip on the inside. Thanks.

Have you bought Sporto before? Would I buy my regular size or go up a half size?

@Desert Lily

I own a few pairs of Sporto boots. They run true-to-size but if you wear a thick boot-sock then you might go up a half size. Otherwise with a regular sock I would get your traditional size.

I like the bungee lace also. That allows you to customize the fit.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I've been on the east coast my whole life so I have all kinds of boots for various kinds of weather we get.

My go to, not for deep snow, has always been Earth brand, but like another poster said, the Cougar boots look great too for more coverage in bad weather.

Even with all the boots in my closet, I still rely on my Yak Trax pull on spikes.  No matter what kind of sole you have, if there's ice, you need additional traction.

This!!!  I also have all kinds of boots but if you want to be sure you don't fall on ice, Yak Trax are fantastic!  I'm not sure if they still sell them but they do have similar items.  They aren't the most attractive but it's next to impossible to slide in ice while wearing them.    You put them on over your shoes or boots.

There have been times when my driveway was like a skating rink but when I put Yak Trax on they dig into the ice for good traction.

Just don't wear them indoors as they can ruin your floors.

These are Sporto boots on HSN. They are genuine suede leather which has been permanently treated so you never have to spray them. Side zippers and wides but limited in choices.

The reviews for that Sporto boot are mixed. Take a look and decide for yourself if you think you might still want them.

I like those blue ones, too! Glad you found some winter boots with zippers and good tread.

@Desert Lily Maybe I am too late here, but a great boot that meets your requirements is the Timberland Women's White Ledge Mid Ankle Boot that I bought at Amazon last year for about $100.  They are available at under $90 if they have your size and color.  It is completely waterproof, very comfortable and protects your feet.  I wore with socks.  I walked a lot in an urban setting and construction site, and had no wetness or slipping issues all of last winter.  Very high quality for the price.
