MuttMom:  I particularly love this style.  Was it the Jessica McKlintock style?  Not sure about the spelling.   Anyway, these covered type of dresses, imo, were dresses that the groom's family especially appreciated.  Just guessing; but, now-a-days and sometimes wedding dresses are a bit embarrassing, if the fit isn't right.

Wasn't Gunne Sax made by Jessica McClintock or part of her company?

I designed my knee-length dress and went with my dressmaker to find the "heavy" off weight lace and the champagne-colored lining.  I still have it and love it, but it doesn't fit now.
