I posted a couple of weeks ago needing sizing help on the Iman TS Maxi dress, since I had never purchased her line before.  The overwhelming suggestion was to get a small, although the sizing chart suggested a medium.  The advice was spot on!  The small fits beautifully.  So now I am back with another question.

I am 5'6", 130 pounds, 30-inch waist, and a 40-inch hip.  I want to order an Iman skirt with elastic waist.  I have such a ratio difference between my hips and waist, that I am confused as to what size to order. The size chart indicates a medium, and since it's a skirt, I'm wondering if I should get a medium or a small (like the maxi). I certainly don't want it to hug my hips, but I don't want it to be too big at the waist either.  Any advice is much appreciated!

I wear a medium in Iman clothing. I once bought one of her maxi dresses in a small and realized I needed a medium to make it not skin tight. I just don't want skin tight. I am about your weight, a little more, shorter and would wear a size 10 in pants. I would suggest you try the medium unless you want it skin tight. If your waist to hip ratio is so different, you may just have difficulty with any skirt, unless it has a tie waist like the olden style where we had drawstring waists. My sister would get her waists taken in by an alterations lady. Not sure what skirt you are looking at but remember the models on TV do not show the back side very often because they are putting them in too tight of clothing. When the model says they are in a small, I always wonder. When the plus size model says she is in the large and it is skin tight like a sausage, I know this is too small. Even with Iman's line, HSN is doing the too tight sausage look on the models.

@Ainhisg Yay!  I am happy that the maxi worked out for you.  I chatted with you a bit about Iman's line.  I don't have a skirt of hers so I'm not sure about that.  In her tops and jeans I go with up to a 14 (L) where if you recall I wear a 12 (M) in her maxi's.   Wish I could be of more help but this time maybe you should go with the size chart?  Or then again maybe someone will come through for you that has one of her skirts.  Enjoy

Yes, @LindaSal you were a lot of help!  I just saw where the maxi was available in yellow in my size, so I ordered it.  I can't believe it was available.  I had a $10 coupon and some spendable cash, so I did great with it.  I wore my maxi and topper to church yesterday and got compliments on it.  It was so incredibly comfortable.
