Re: Models Should Reflect QVC's Typical Customer

Jonbon i personally don't care what Carolyn and Leah do.They can get as big and unhealthy as they want. But I do believe they shouldn't confuse the customers who are judging themselves by their sizes. It was not pleasant looking at Carolyn's lumps and bumps under her white pants today. I did think she looked really nice in the pink maxi dress and pink denim jacket last week that she said Gary dressed her in. IT FIT HER. I bought a lot of d & c today. And before you ask, I wear a size small.

Models should also be 2x and 3x. I seldom if ever see models this size. This would truly give us plus girls a good look on how they fit these larger models vs. having to send items back that did not fit well.

Because most of us don't want to see the clothes on the average american woman. I don't particularly want to see clothes on woman who has more lumps and bumps and a bigger axx than mine.

I am in total agreement with Ford1224 AND TINKRBELL44.

Not all the models on QVC are young. I would say l/2 are over 40

If you're talking really obese models over 65, you are never going to see that on any shopping channel.

They don't show obese models of any age. I doubt there are any. You are not going to see a 350-400 lbs women at any height. The human body can only hold so much weight. And it's not considered healthy. So you won't see it period. Age is a different matter. Most modeling careers are short. Men can remain models at a more advanced age then women. But that is only because women are more preceived as beautiful when young.

Models are tall because they can be seen easily in a large gathering. It's harder see a women under 5'4". So they are tall for practical reasons. Being thin is also for practical reasons. They have to show clothing as close as possible to a hanger. It is extremely rare to see a successful model under 5'4". And models have never reflected the average women. QVC & HSN have made efforts to show larger models but they are not really that overweight for their height. And never obese.

If any of you have watched them on QVC for a few years, it should be obvious that they have grown wider and wider. So it is impossible to remain the same size (LARGE) and continue to gain weight. Please don't insult my intelligence or anyone else's who can see what I clearly see. The others only dream the same dream Carolyn and Leah do. Perhaps someone is telling them to say that they are a size LARGE. In that case, what happened to truth in advertising? And what happens to ladies who believe them and then constantly have to return things because they don't fit? And please stop the stories about hi def cameras! Any excuse... as for the poster who said that everyone knows that size 12-14 is not plus size, maybe so. Or for the poster who was insulted by the word obesity. Have you ever heard the clinical definition of obesity? Do your BMI. Check the charts. Some, not all, will be surprised.

So what??

So, QVC sells out of many of the items they present, and YOU want them to change something? Why? Somehow customers, including myself, have no problem knowing if a garment will look good on them.

Re: Models Should Reflect QVC's Typical Customer

You know that if the models resembled QVC's typical customers that not as many would place orders. This way, one can "dream" that the clothes will make them look taller and thinner.

Re: Models Should Reflect QVC's Typical Customer

I'm thinking that there are a good cross-section of model sizes, more or less. In reality, they couldn't have six or ten models on every show. But, so far, I can guess my size between the slim models and the normal/whatever models. Especially when the hosts mention the sizes the models are wearing. The only size that might be only slightly lacking would be the medium sized models.

Re: Models Should Reflect QVC's Typical Customer

I look at it this way: In B&M stores there aren't any models at all. I just 'guess', holding the item up, and try on when I arrive home. It's a guess, (for me) more or less, as I don't like spending time in dressing rooms.
