Very pretty dress. You could always have it hemmed to the length of a regular dress if you really love the fit and color of the one you chose. I don't find it dumpy at all.

@Mom2Dogs

From your comments in your post it sounds like you have a few concerns about the dress. You state it fits pretty good but just looks ok. Personally, I want a dress to look more than just ok on me. Maybe the tailoring you mention will help.

I have tried on a few maxis and just don’t like them for me. I prefer knee length dresses. Lots of young women in my city wear maxis in summer and look cute. Some maxis look too much like pjs or beach wear, but this one looks versatile. You could style it lots of different ways.

It's a no for me...but I really don't care much for dresses & skirts.

I love maxi dresses in the summer, especially sleeveless. I can go 'commando' and let the breeze be with me!Woman LOL But the length has to be no longer than skimming my ankles. If the hemline touches the tops of my feet then it's too long and I don't usually like wearing high heels unless I have to accommodate the longer garments.

Re: Maxi dress...yes or no

I'm just a bit taller than you.  I only wear flat or low heel shoes.  I like my maxi length to be just above the ankle bone.

What length looks the best really is a personal issue.  Take a handful of pins and try the dress on - pinning it at various lengths to see what you like best ... then have the dress hemmed if needed.

I have a black maxi similar to that.

Mine isn't as full at the bottom.  More A-line shape.  I don't like maxis that are so wide that they wrap around my legs when walking.  It the dress is too full It can get caught on your shoes going up and down stairs, in and out of vehicles.

I have said this before and I'll say it again: no one looks good in a maxi. I know, I know you get a lot of compliments but what do people say when you walk away? Look at people as you are out shopping or what ever how do they look?

It depends on the type of maxi dress.  Some are form fitting & some flare out like A303412.  If you are over weight, you have no business wearing a form fitting maxi. There is nothing worse than seeing an overweight female in a form fitting maxi w/stomach & belly button imprints as well as horizonal strips.

I noticed when the Q models have on maxi' dresses, they are most times in heels.  I live in a county surrounded by "shore"  & casino communities.  I have never seen anyone wear heels w/maxi dresses.  It's usually flip flops, sandals or flats.

For a a very long time, I was VERY fat, and wore form fitting maxi dresses or slacks. Actually I CAN think of dozens and dozens of things that assault my eyes far more than form fitting maxis, but I must have been so busy at the time, what with running a household, working full time, riding herd on two teenagers, taking care of my mother after she broke her hip and so on that I must have neglected my overwhelming responsibility to onlookers who grew faint after casting eyes at my blubbery countenance. Much to my sorrow, I recall the possibility that I might have on occasion worn heels with maxis as well.

Since I was without the helpful advice presently available to me I must sadly throw myself on the mercy of those whom I might have inadvertently caused offense.

Having lost a great deal of weight, I must now contend with the horror I may extend to onlookers with my turkey wattle, crepey cheeks and pendulous underarm skin, but thankfully the cursed belly button imprint is safely in my past.

Wear what you like. It's your money and your body, to heck with what other people think

@wilma...I love the feeling when I put on a piece of clothing and think...this looks great!   I thought this looked ok on me....I am average weight 135-140...5'5, not tall.  I really want to keep this but having second thoughts.  I wish it came in a tad shorter length....like to mid calf.....

I have not shown my knees in public for years so some length is important...just not to long!!

I do not like maxi dresses on me. I have not worn a long dress since senior prom! I got married in a dress just below the knee and loved it!
