Re: Low-Rise Jeans

[ Edited ]

Well there is low rise for real women and LOW RISE like in that article for very tall, young, skinny fashionistas.  I don't think low rise for real women ever went away, it's just that the jeans makers also offered a variety of styles for every woman.  That's not going to change.  The pictures in that article did make me laugh though, those 3 feet long torsos...lol

I prefer low-rise. I like the waistline at or under my bellybutton. I can't imagine wearing pants right below my chest.

 Right below your chest ???  I imagine that would interfere with bending, probably breathing too.  I don't recall ever seeing chest high pants.  Other than on that Urkell charachter from way back when.

I wear what is comfortable and acceptable for me....not because it is "in" or "fashionable"....although I'm aware and love fashion.  It has to complement my body type and personality - taking priority over fashion.  I own several styles of jeans and they are a staple in my wardrobe.

I'm going to wear what I like and what looks good on me, and to heck what the designers say.  I thought this article was laughable for so many reasons - one of those being that the writer said it gives women a one-year heads-up so they have time to start exercising to get their tummies flat before the low-rise style kicks in (I'm paraphrasing here).

Thanks for your responses, ladies.

@chrystaltreeI was exaggerating. Because I'm short-waisted, I would feel like high-waisted pants were below the chest....LOL!

I'm oddly shaped. I have long legs and a short torso.

For those of us that are short waisted, a low rise will feel like our pants are falling down.

It depends on your body type.  I don't care how good something looks on me, if it feels uncomfortable, I see no reason to buy it.

I do not wear jeans but almost always wear pants.  I wear mid or low(er) rise pants.  I splurged once in Italy and had pants custom made.  The tailor said the most flattering pants (for most) fall 2" below the natural waist.

When it comes to yoga pants I choose mid rise.  Anything lower is not good for exercise.

@kelshar

That's not odd! That's me! LOL I can't wear a petite length because they're too short on the leg but I could use a petite rise?! Someone needs to start making those!

I have jeans in just about every style, even the out of style no one's making them or buying them bootcut 🙄 , with the exception of a high waist full-length jean.

I don't find a high waist very comfortable in denim. I do however have some high-waisted crops or wide legs
