Re: Looking Back To 1988.........At Louis Dell'Olio

I'm glad I was able to purchase so many of his beautiful classic designs.  Yes times change but classic designs do not.  He knew how to dress a women with his collections.  And he had actual collections to mix and match and showed us how to put together his designs. Although I miss him, it was best he didn't cave to the route the Q was taking offering lower end styles and fabrics. He was too talented to compromise.  A true designer.

His departure was a huge loss for QVC.

They should have kept him! They only see $$ signs and don't understand what a great designer, they gave the boot to.

@Foxxee, thanks for posting the article. I love his clothing. I still wear the items I purchased at every opportunity. I am glad that Louis refused to compromise his integrity and continue with Q when they (to all appearances) decided to go with less value but more $$$. That was the point at which the Q lost me as a customer. Loved his shows, so much fun. And it was obvious that all the models and hosts adored him as well as his designs.

Times sure have changed.  How beautiful his clothing was compared to the awful styles out there today not to mention all the cheap POLYESTER that most clothing is now made of.  I am so glad I still have a Louis maxidress, skirt, several long sleeve tops, and several tank tops.  They never go out of style and they wash and wear beautifully.

If I'm not mistaken, I still have that Anne Klein houndstooth blazer pictured below ...  have an old trunk full of jackets and blazers that I can't bear to part with.  That one is a classic ...

I miss him so much.  I moved recently and my closets aren't as large so I was getting rid of some things.  I have a LOT of Linea items and I just couldn't let go of any of them.  They are so nicely constructed and I just love them all.

Louis did compromise and made QVC clothing with polyester and cheap fabric.

I didn't think his show when Mary Nelson was filling in for another host was fun to watch.  It was painful.

He 100% was nasty to her.  I was shocked.  I don't know how she kept it together.  I was ready to burst into tears for her.

I lost all respect for him that day.  I don't know if he was ever like that with others behind the scenes, or just Mary on camera.

I can see why QVC dropped him.  If I would have been in charge, I would have dropped him right then and there.  I would have stopped the show and kicked him out!  It was that bad.

Anyone, especially a man who would treat a woman doing her job like he treated Mary that day doesn't deserve to be there.

He would never allow anyone to treat his wife that way, I hope.

I am glad he is gone. He is not the man I thought he was.
