I think it's a body thing, not an age thing.

Plus how you style them.

@marip

I'll be 54 next month and I wear them.  I agree that it's about how you style them.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

This 67 year old has a drawer full of them.  I love Logo leggings - quality fabric and colors.  I'm wearing a pair right now..

Park in a local shopping Center and just watch for awhile and soon you will have your answer.....I do believe that you will see everything  and anything in the parking lot...It will make you stop and think before you dress and leave the house....I know we have mags and models to show us how to put something together but most never pay any attention and forget what size you should wear if you can melt and be poured into it thats the perfect size even if you can't walk well.Im amazed that women would leave the house looking like they do and the rest of the public has to see their mistakes.I don't know how many times Ive pulled in to a parking place and phone would ring and I sat talking and watched the parade....Just wait until you get inside the store.......

I often see something on someone else and decide it's not for me based on that.

When Dayle Haddon was the model for Talbot's, what she wore would make or break my decision on an item.  If it looked dumb on her or too young, I knew it wouldn't work for me.

At what age is too old to wear leggings?

The other day, a friend was wearing capri length black leggings with a black and white polka dot tunic.  She looked adorable.  She's petite in size, age 72.  The leggings looked terrific on her.  I could never pull it off, but she sure did.

So, I don't think there's an inappropriate age for leggings, but some body types (mine!) should never wear them.

I watched "What Not To Wear" religiously when it was on and most recently, the reruns.  Both Stacey and Clinton said only thin women (meaning thin overall) should wear leggings, tapered pants, or skinny jeans.  These styles are not flattering on heavier women (which I am).  They actually make them look much larger than they are as well as out of proportion.

As I remember, they never discussed an age range.

A straight leg pant or jean is much more flattering. When folding the hem up to the knee, they should match in width.

But as someone else said if you love them and feel comfortable in them, by all means wear them.  That's what really matters.

I am older than dirt & wear them.  I have long thin legs, no butt, no hips.  I still make sure my shirt covers my front and tush.
