The Eileen Fisher top really wasn't placed in the post for critique. It was only used as an example of how to have those sensitive parts covered while wearing leggings, yet not feel like you're covered with a blanket and hiding (like the chick wearing the itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini).  I think the top's shape and fabric is ok, but it's not a color I would generally choose. There was another top on the Bloomingdale's website I really wanted to show, but couldn't get the image to copy in the post.

@Trix

Yea I know but I was compelled to comment as it hits the right notes but somehow fails (in my eyes)

As I've mentioned, many times, not only is the dramatic length elongating and flattering (I'm 5'2") it serves a practical purpose when the rear view in a certain pair of pants (or leggings) is less than stellar! Woman Wink

Andreatoo, I get it.  At only 5'2" that top wouldmake you look like a 6-year old playing dress up in one of her mommy's dresses. Woman Wink

You're never too old for leggings!  I agree with others, it's all in how you style them.  No one in my opinion should be wearing the super thin see through leggings with a short t-shirt.  However, leggings under a dress, skirt, long shirt, or tunic works just fine for pretty much any age.

Age appropriate is more about how you style and accessorize moreso that what you have on.  Using this example of an outfit by Eileen Fisher, I can't think of an age, or size, which couldn't wear this look.  There are many examples, but you get the idea of it's about the styling.

I get the point you're making but that top is horrendous!

Those also aren't leggings, they are jeans.  You can see the zipper.

For all of you with "age" questions, I encourage you to go out to the bloggosphere and find bloggers who blog fashion for various age groups.  There are tons.

Then find ones with your fashion aesthetic.  For example, the blogger I follow is called Fabulous After 40 and she mainly posts Nordstrom fashions and how to dress.  She has many blog posts on leggings.

Another blogger called Fifty Not Frumpy is not for me. She is all in for Chicos and I am not a Chicos fan, so her fashion aesthetic doesn't speak to me.

I don't think there's an age limit on leggings. But - when you wear them - make sure you have a tunic top that covers your booty! That's my person rule, and I'm sticking with it!

I like leggings. So comfortable.  I always wear a longer top with them.  Love them with boots. I don't believe in the age thing. As others have said, it is all how you wear them.
