Re: LL Bean Sizing Question

@NickNack  Be sure and get the 20% discount going on right now! Also, if you are ordering two sweaters, you may qualify for free S&H. I placed an order earlier today, as well. Love their clothes.

Thanks @BirkiLady .  I did order two sizes and got free shipping and the 20% discount.  The discount is what made me really want the sweater.

Thanks also for telling me that you've never had problems with shrinking.  I'm still going to be careful with washing the sweater, but I'm glad to know that.

@NickNack  I know you already placed your order but I am an LL Bean freak!  Love their clothing and I am generally a true medium and always wear a Large in LL Bean.  Also I have their credit card which is absolutely great, you earn bean bucks and can use them on future orders and they never expire!  I try to save some and use them close to Christmas.

I am sure you will love your new sweater!

I do love their organic cotton to.  Sometimes true, sometimes I size up.

Most (all?) LLBean items give a "fit type" in the description, which may also help. For example,

  • Classic Fit: Sits at the natural waist and trim, with a traditional straight leg.

I'm looking at a cableknit turtleneck sweater at LL Bean.  It's been a long time since I've ordered from there, and I wondered about sizing.  A couple of the reviews said this sweater ran a size small, but most of them said true to size.  I'm not sure what to do.  I thought about ordering two and returning one.  How does their sizing compare to Loft or Talbots?  I think Talbots runs smaller than Loft.

@NickNack   If in doubt, I always order a size up in a sweater (like them roomy) and tees, etc. if all cotton, I also a size up so they can go in dryer w/o worry of shrinking. BTW, I size up at Talbots and Loft.

They run small. Also, be sure and look at their return policy. They changed it and you will be paying return postage now. I won't order from them anymore.

@Whosits   I ordered two sizes.  I did look at their return policy and saw that they charged $6.50.  I got free shipping by ordering two sizes and 20% off.  If I had just ordered one size I would have paid $6 shipping.  I would have had to pay one way or the other.

I usually never order from places where I have to pay shipping either way, but I really liked this sweater.
