@NYCLatinaMe I agree with you, I love button down collars on blouses (shirts) and have a few. Call me old fashion but men wear shirts and women wear blouses. Just another thing that makes me go hummmmmmm.

Land's End , JC Penney, Macy's, Nordstrom describe shirts as button down, with or without collar buttons. Things change.

@NYCLatinaMe I just noticed most of Isaac's shirts/blouses say Button Front not button down, Now that makes more sense to me.

Here is what Webster says about it.
Definition of button-down

The Everything Button Down is the name of the shirt & in the Description it's a button front....no big deal.

I thought the meaning of "button down" was common knowledge, but maybe not you.
From Wikipedia "A button-down or button-down shirt is a dress shirt which has a button-down collar – a collar having the ends fastened to the shirt with buttons."
Isaac and people in the garment industry know this. You can google it.

@NYCLatinaMe That USED TO BE what they called a shirt with a collar with buttons but some years ago they started referring to shirts with button closures as "button down". Stay alert and I think you'll see it frequently, as I do.

There are a few descriptions used incorrectly around here. I cringe whenever they use the word couture!
To quote Inigo Montoya " I do not think it means what you think it means!" LOL
Short waisted, and I learned this from another poster, is the distance between your shoulders and your waist and has nothing to do with the length of your torso

QVC presenters do use a lot of terms incorrectly in the TV shows. I just thought it was striking that the item name was incorrect. They do mistakes with the colors all the time.
But itt looks from the other posters that there is some usage of the term that is unfamiliar to me. I have never heard or read of button front blouses referred to as button-downs! Won't be surprised the next time I see it...

Andreatoo, being "short-waisted" means you have a shorter torso. Long shirts do not work for us!

I thought that was the meaning too but apparently it's not
Someone here pointed that out a while back so I looked it up to find that she was correct
