Is anyone as done with "color blocking" as I am?

I never thought that fad would last this long. Also, the "you can wear any color with any color," even when they clash horribly.

I agree, Ford. Some color blocking is even done very poorly, especially the huge stripes of it horizontally. To your point of wearing any color with anything, I think that's jumped on by sellers as it makes their job very easy. Anything goes, makes selling very easy....

Didn't know that color blocking was still a ""thing"". Guess that proves I'm not watching much QVC anymore. lol

I don't mind it unless its done so that it looks like a Star Trek uniform. Done well, it can be beautiful. Done poorly and it feels like I am getting ready to meet Will Riker on the bridge.

Just the mention of the color blocking style immediately makes me think of that huge color block 3 color fleece coat of Susan Graver's. Will it EVER sell out or be done? Every time I watch her show it seems that said coat is being presented once again. I am so weary of the same things being shown constantly. Some color blocking is okay, but on that coat, a no no!

I'm with you on this.

I was never really a big fan of colorblocking, even when I was younger when I first recalled the term, back in the sixties, I think.

I don't think it's terrible, I just don't care for it that much.

As far as the "anything goes with anything" attitude, I just can't get into it at all.

I grew up in a time when things were supposed to match. I understand the idea of getting away from a lot of that, I suppose it does look old-fashioned and too contrived. But I still like to see things that look like they should go together and coordinate, not just slapping anything with anything else. It looks too confusing to me.

I'm not talking about what we wear around the house, or when we are in a rush. But when you are taking some care with your clothes to put an outfit together, I still like to see things that look like they belong together.

VERY tired of hearing it--and seeing any old pattern referred to as ""color blocking""

At least we got past the ""jhzzz"" word. Uff.

I never really got into the color blocking style to begin with. I prefer to wear solids, mainly neutral colors in the brown family. I don't look good in black especially up near my face. I did see Susans jacket on clearance this morning though. Guess they want to get rid of the rest of the inventory. It's not bad looking though.

As to some colors clashing: I used to have a very limited idea of which colors went together well, the same idea for 50 years. But after growing to respect Louis dell'Olio, I have vastly expanded my idea of color coordination. He has a beautiful artistic talent, and I love the richness of tones he puts together. Once I opened my mind and really listened to him, my idea of beauty expanded in a way that excites me.
