Re: Is anyone as done with ""color blocking"" as I am?

Like any trend, we keep what works and discard the rest. I'm happy these latest trends have led to "coordination" or "goes with" to replace the old school "matching."

Just the mention of the color blocking style immediately makes me think of that huge color block 3 color fleece coat of Susan Graver's. Will it EVER sell out or be done? Every time I watch her show it seems that said coat is being presented once again. I am so weary of the same things being shown constantly. Some color blocking is okay, but on that coat, a no no!

Yes! How many times are they going to present that coat? It seems like it's presented in practically every show. So tired of seeing that coat.

It's not my favorite look, but I think it can look great when done in neutral colors (such as black/camel).

I haven't been interested in color blocking since the 80's.

I have no problem with colors that coordinate and there are only two of them, e.g., a camel colored dress with side panels of black, which is very figure flattering. That is not quite what I meant. Someone mentioned the OrYany handbags and the SG coat and that's more of what I was talking about.

That, and the host handing the model with the already color-blocked black and purple dress a tangerine handbag and exclaiming . . . "now doesn't that just 'POP!'" No, it looks ridiculous.

Re: Is anyone as done with ""color blocking"" as I am?

I like lots of color blocking, but as part of a pattern in a piece of material. I've never considered it to be color blocking when I choose to wear a pair of blacks pants and a blue top.

If designers or sales people or even my friends choose to call it color blocking, so be it. Doesn't change what I choose to wear.

I never thought that fad would last this long. Also, the "you can wear any color with any color," even when they clash horribly.

Do you mean color blocking- where the same garment has different 'blocks' of color? Or mixing and matching separates that are different solid colors? I've mixed/matched solids forever, minimizing 'the rules' makes getting dressed much easier!!

I didn't participate in that trend. I only wear things within a specific color palette.

Never have like color blocking. If I don't like a fad I don't participate in it.
