Re: I got a tabard from Talbots today

I didn't know what it was either. I found it by looking in accessories

Here's the first definition that popped up when I googled "tabard":

tab·ard
ˈtabərd/
noun
noun: tabard; plural noun: tabards
  1. a sleeveless jerkin consisting only of front and back pieces with a hole for the head.
    • historical
a coarse sleeveless garment worn as the outer dress of medieval peasants and clerics, or worn as a surcoat over armor.
"white tabards with crosses on the front"
    • a herald's official coat emblazoned with the arms of the sovereign.

      ****************************************************************************
Now I have to look up "jerkin." It sounds like a good description of how Elaine danced on Seinfeld.

Re: I got a tabard from Talbots today

I got a lot of compliments from the young ladies at our local diner this morning when I wore the tabard.

They loved the color, and said how nice it looked on me. I wore in with black tights ,and black knee high boots. Underneath I wore a black mock neck tee

It's cold here, but this is a warm item, so if any of you are interested, and  if you are not into warmer clothes , you might not like it.

I tried this one on from a clearance rack at the store (in a spicey rust very pretty color) and it made my hips look huge!  I couldn't take it off fast enough which was too bad, since I loved the color.  (It was the correct size for me, by the way, just not flattering at all on me).

@cherryI bought a black one in the fall.  It hasn't been cold enough until now!  I guess 14 inches of snow is enough!Smiley Happy

Re: I got a tabard from Talbots today

I live in the mitten so I will have many months of enjoying it.  The rust, which I got, is more on the coral side than the orange side.

I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I am. It was a good purchase
