Re: Help! Need Capris Suggestions

I'm slowly learning ... just bought a wide brimmed hat, and while I do use sunscreen i sometimes forget the back of my neck. Plus, I'm a ginger with fair skin and freckles so I burn reallllllly easy. One lesson I learned last year; DON'T mow the lawn in my Crocs with the cut out pattern on the tops; I ended up with a checkerboard patterned tan on the top of my feet last summer, lol.

I do water in the morning, but on those days with a high UVI it doesn't seem to make a difference.

We are adjusting; we just started a termite contract with a new company - something we never even had to think about before. In WI were winter can be six months long and get as low as -25'ish, we had no bugs. They all freeze in the winter weather and don't survive from season to season. Not so here!

So now I am on the hunt for a lightweight, roomy and easy care capri or pedal pusher to wear around the house. We love Asheville, btw ... lucky you! I was in Boone for the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games last year and the cooler mountain temps were wonderful.

Re: Help! Need Capris Suggestions

I've looked at the Wic pedal pushers; if you wear them in the summer, I assume they don't make you hotter? I thought maybe the knit, close fitting fabric might be too warm?

Re: Help! Need Capris Suggestions

That's wy I thought I could get some suggestions; I thought the same thing about all of the items I've looked at. I need something super lightweight, almost a gauze type fabric. Nobody will see me other than cars driving by when I'm mowing the front yard. I want something I don't have to peel off when I'm done and ready to jump in the shower! Smiley Happy

Carol,

check out A89431------They are soft crinkle cotton denim and co capris. Theycome in about twenty colors.

Wonderful for hot days in the garden. Easy pull on. big pockets.

I love them!

They are very light weight, you can wash in the sink and they should dry quickly!

@AussieLuvr  They have so much Spandex, the DO make you hot.  I think any knit is hotter than a woven fabric with lots of cotton.  I put knits away when our weather gets seriously hot.

Re: Help! Need Capris Suggestions

I've lived here in NC my entire life and mow the lawn, take hour walks, etc. in the heat and humidity.  The best and most comfortable things I've found are at WalMart, Danskin Essential or Dri More shorts, bermudas, capris, etc.  They are very inexpensive, and you can buy them online, Walmart gives you free 2 day shipping with a $35 order of anything.  If they don't fit you can return in the mail or in store.  I wear the 9" inseam shorts, but they have a 12" bermuda, as well as capris. pants, etc.  The fabric is 62% cotton, 33% polyester, 5% spandex and it is lightweight and very comfy.  I wash mine on cold and hang to dry.  I am a Small at QVC, but a Medium in Danskin.  Once you find your size they are pretty much true across the board.  Another similar line there is Athletic Works.  Smiley Happy

Re: Help! Need Capris Suggestions

I live in Central Florida, and am in my mid-fifties. My legs are not perfect, but I do wear Bermuda shorts. I usually get them at Chico's. I also have a couple of pairs from Diane Gilman on the HSN channel. I am 5'4" and these shorts hit me in the middle of the knee.

I have to say, I do not see a whole lot of capri pants here (except on theme park visitors).  Most of the women my age wear the long shorts during the hottest months.

@AussieLuvr I have lived in NC all my life, and the summers are really hot and muggy.  I have passed the shorts-wearing age, but I have found pedal pushers are a nice compromise.  I like the Denim & Co ones.  They are a good length, and occasionally I will roll them up a couple of times if it is really steaming hot outside. I also wear Women in Control pedal pushers if I have a longer shirt to cover my tummy area. Hope this helps a little!

@kermiefrog,Another NC chick!  WooHoo!

@AussieLuvr Welcome neighbor! I live in Clemmons as well. Re the capris, Walmart is a good choice. Also, Cato has cute things and I often find great summer things at our local KMart. They also do on line. Good luck!

Re: Help! Need Capris Suggestions

Howdy neighbor! We live on Middlebrook Drive. I'm from NY City and NJ and moved to WI to marry my hubs i 1997. We lived in a very rural area for 19 years, as it was my husband's birthplace.

We moved to Clemmons in November, 2015 and I am REALLY enjoying being back amongst civilization!! lol

I found a few capris on here that were on clearance and ordered them for less than $12 with shipping, so we'll see how that goes. I haven't had a chance to get to Cato's yet, but they are about two minutes from my house so I need  to go see what they've got.

I mowed our lawn today for the first time; its a beautiful day but I know those sweltering hot days on the mower are coming soon. Ugh! Smiley Happy
