I like Gold Toe also and have been wearing them for years generally for walking and exercising with my New Balance sneakers.  Other than that I don't wear socks in the summer with my Skechers.  I do wear LL Bean wool blend socks in the winter as they fit nicely in my ankle boots and keep my feet toasty warm!    I also wear them if I walk outside on a cold day.

I like Maggie's organic socks.  They can be purchased on Amazon, their own website and even in Wegmans.

Tommy Copper has some that are tighter around the ankle, but pricier- I'm a sock lover, but sock snob. I dislike most socks, because too thick, too loose.  

im a 61/2 and most socks are too big in the foot so they slip down. Gotta get size small, but few brands offer sizes- 

I also like Talbots socks, nice cottony mix fabric, soft, small foot, wash well!

@haddon9 I prefer a shorter sock with sneakers when wearing shorts or crop-style pants.  Taller socks look bad in that case.

Only three choices for me, but so many variables.... what sneakers, what pants, where I"m going, what I'm going to be doing, and the weather.

• Compression socks that I bought from Amazon (12 pairs).  Several different colors.

• Knee-high stockings.

• Black socks from Hanes.  They have a fuzzy/padded sole.  I bought 3 dozen pairs a couple of years ago .... all black.  Never have to worry about matching.

@SaveTheTurtles mine too! I have a pair of cotton Adidas ankle socks left over from the 80's that I used to wear to my aerobics classes and now I use them to wear to bed, after putting foot cream on. They're cotton and although thinner now, they still don't have any holes in them! 

I was recently on the hunt for socks to wear for exercising (walking on the treadmill) because the cheap cotton socks I've been wearing lately are developing holes in the toes. I remembered the longevity of the Adidas ones that I had bought way back when, so I bought a pack of Adidas socks, 3 white and 3 black (I would have preferred all white but they didn't have them) but, to my dismay, after removing them from their packaging, I discovered that they were polyester and not cotton! They HAVE to be cotton, otherwise I get blisters. ☹️ I should have paid more attention to the label before purchasing them.  Oh well... back to the hunt!

I don't wear socks with any sneaker. Uggs in the winter if it's cold without socks.
