If you’ve got a pair of hose or tights that have seen better days, cut a half inch or so tube out of the leg and it works better than a rubber band - softer and not so grabby.

Yes, I think a long scarf folded and tied behind one’s head may be the best solution when waiting for something ordered to arrive if you don’t have supplies on hand to make a mask. Lol I don’t even have rubber bands here.
