Will face masks become a fashion statement? Will we buy different shapes and patterns to match our outfits?
I went online to buy a couple washable face masks yesterday and was surprised how many shapes, styles, and patterns there are for homemade face masks. These aren't medical grade masks, just the masks you wear to keep your germs from spraying out when you sneeze, cough, breathe, etc. I thought the only choices I would have would be plain black or white. But noooo..... there were so many, it took me hours to decide whether I wanted elastic straps, or ties - or tight with a bump at the nose or pleated - with or without a pocket for a filter. And that was before I got to colors and patterns.
I was laughing at myself because I was wondering which pattern would go best with which spring shirt. I had to buy for hubby and father too, so then there was the difficulty of finding plain dark colors.
So, when will QVC be selling face masks made by D&Co, Lisa Rinna, Isaac, etc. When you buy a pima cotton t-shirt, will it come with a matching face mask?

I was thinking the same thing - I would LOVE if The Q's vendors would offer FACE MASKS! My family needs them! They all probably have huge fabric supplies available. Get sewing, vendors!
Think of the possibilities: faux fur masks from Dennis Basso; masks with chiffon and lace and tulle trim from Lori Goldstein; stretch Flexabelle denim masks from Kim Gravel...well, you get the idea. ![]()

I want a mask that gives me cheekbones.

I bought masks yesteday on Etsy and was surprised at all the options. yup, I do think this become 'a thing' for some time. bought plain gray and plain blue for now, but surely would love some fun ones as 'jewelry for the face' and to match my outfits once we can go outside more.
will wear these for my daily walks. if Q vendors start selling, as long as they are good quality layered cotton with filter pockets, yes, I would buy.
meantime, everyone please stay home; if you must be out for essentials, leave plenty of room and space for others. wash hands!!

Last night, I had a brainstorm. It was to go online and find a pattern for cloth masks. There were a lot of choices. I found one that said "10 minutes.". I made one in about 30 minutes. It's got elastic ear straps and pleats so it can be adjusted. My only cotton fabric was a white background with a very tiny blue floral print & chocolate brown dinner napkins. I made 2 Brown ones for my DH and I of each color for myself. They will be perfect. We don't go out unless necessary, but I am going to wear one of them next Monday morning when I have to go get my next infusion.

DD, also a football fan like I am, suggested a complete run of teams in N95 masks.

@MarnieRez3 You don't have to order face masks. Just make your own with a piece of cloth or the back cut out of an old shirt!![]()

And perhaps Isaac will create a mask with a peplum overlay and lace?

Or Susan Graver could do a liquid knit one?

That's the spirit! As long as we need to wear them, masks should be fashionable. Right?
I did buy a couple cheap, colorful ones on Etsy. Then saw the Surgeon General's video on how to make a mask out of a cloth napkin and 2 rubber bands. It works!
Then, my big epithany... I remembered I had a package of N95 masks I had bought at the hardware store last year when I was sanding and spray painting our deck furniture. I sure didn't realize how useful they would be.
Stay safe!
