Re: Denis Basso Button Front Coat

@Carmie   The Basso coat does come in petite. Also Banana Republic has 50% plus 20% off everything today. Lots of petite coats with the sale price below $100.

@San Antonio Gal  It's a faux double breasted coat. In the video Basso "explains" double breasted coats don't look good when worn open and this way you can have your cake and eat it too.  I think it was all about cost cutting.

Re: Denis Basso Button Front Coat

@NYCLatinaMe.  Shirts like the denim big shirt, I only ever open the first couple of buttons or snaps and just pull it on over my head.  If not too revealing, i may never close those first buttons.  So it doesn't have the potential problems of a coat.

I like my plaids to match front to back ... the DB plaid does not.

@SoX  - How do you know the plaids don't match front to back?  Did they point that out in the presentation?

The coat only comes in misses and plus sizes.  If they had petite sizes, I would buy one for my friend who is in a senior center.  She needs a longer washable coat that is not bulky.  She is in a wheel chair full time now.

I personally have never seen any outerwear from Dennis in petite sizes.

@San Antonio Gal

It's very apparent in the video ... the models purposefully don't linger on the side shots.  Dennis mentions that the plaids "match on the front," but neglects to mention the back.

Matching plaids takes more yardage, so I'm guessing this is a cost containment, rather than a design flaw.

Re: Denis Basso Button Front Coat

@NYCLatinaMe   I agree, buttons are the norm, but they can be a PIA.

I have two heavy weight wool coats that I always seem to be losing a button on.  They're not new and I have replaced buttons more than a few times on them.

I mostly just leave the coats open now.  I have another jacket missing one button and I need to look to replace the whole set...including the ones on the sleeves.

Almost all my newer coats have zippers.

Re: Denis Basso Button Front Coat

I heard Denis say that a true double breasted coat doesn't really look as it was intended to look unless it is worn fully buttoned.  I guess this is just an alternative to that.

It would be a god send for the right individual - think someone elderly who just doesn't have the manual dexterity for buttons anymore or someone with say Parkinsons or MS.  Until you told me there were snaps I had no idea so it wouldn't bother me.

@Houstonoilers , I have dexterity problems so I choose zippers and snaps on coats.  I choose shoes without ties too.  I am a slide and go gal.
