Maybe the basic core colors that are always available as opposed to the seasonal colors?  Just a guess.

@Kachina624 is correct. Colors like navy and black will always be available, supplemented by seasonals like orange or pink.

@paulazaj Kachina is right. I buy tons of the original waist pants but only in the denim! I have tons of the "core" denim colors!
