Only one bad experience with an unfriendly Chico salesperson -- it turned out she was the regional sales manager. Thank goodness she was on rotation and was soon gone. We have several Chico's within driving distance and their sales staffs are excellent, even with returns ! After they changed their return policy to " x " days, I found that I had purchased a tank top similar to one I already had so I didn't try it on. Big mistake. I bought it on our long drive from FL to Phila at the end of our snowbird trip. By the time the warm weather here arrived, I finally tried it on: too big. It was way past the return deadline. Rather than stand there and argue with the clerk who was calling headquarters and surrounded by waiting customers, I simply told her to just take it and I left. Next visit, the manager who wasn't there, apologized and found a few ways to compensate for the returned item. Love that store !

I send my husband because sales associates are always super nice to him.{#emotions_dlg.biggrin} The time I tried to return in person a mail order blouse from Chico's, you would have thought it was the end of the world. I guess it comes off their sales tallies.{#emotions_dlg.blink}

Those boots are so cute. Hey those would look good with my new top. I love those. I don't think I have ever ordered shoes or boots online from them.

I rarely return anything to Chico's. I probably return one or two things a year to them. I have made several purchases lately and kept them all.

The most recent thing I purchased was this top. I love it and I have worn it with jeans and black pants. It is comfortable and I feel like it looks nice on me.

I thought it was just my store with the snooty sales staff. And I really do hate their stupid sizing method. online for me and returns at store if need be. And ITA...just process the return.

OMG! Do you both live in western New York? I am AFRAID of those ladies in the store! I have mailed back returns for fear of that look and the comments!

I make my DH do my Chico's returns to the store. Sometimes he makes me go with him but I hide in the car! LOL

I am a major spender at White House Black Market and used to be major with Chico's. The service in the Chico's store is just unbearable for me.

I shop online for EVERYTHING! If I do a returns at Macy's with an online purchase, they are so nice. Same w/ WHBM and JCP. But I shudder if my Chico's items don't work out. Unfortunately, lately...nothing has worked w/ them.

Too funny!

This thread has made me laugh - especially this post. Thanks for writing it.

When Chico's first opened, I did some shopping there and online. That came to an end the day I had to return a top I'd bought online that didn't fit well. The behavior of the sales manager (the only one allowed to process returns) was akin to the Spanish Inquisition. After quizzing me about why I wasn't satisfied with the item, she topped it off by saying, "You really should come into the store before shopping online. We had this top in the store! Next time, check here first."

I didn't tell her, but the reason I preferred online buying was that it protected me from their pushy sales staff.

I don't know if a store is penalized for returns (it would be odd, if the clothes weren't bought there). I do know that some customers are turned off by unpleasant sales people and being made to feel guilty for returns.

I never get that attitude at Talbot's or Macy's or Ann Taylor or Kohl's. And, therefore, they get my dollars.

I don't have anything against Chico's clothing. They have some very pretty clothes. I especially liked their jackets when I shopped there.

Does anyone have a Chico's promo code for $20 off $80 or $25 off $75? Thanks.

Yes you can return to the store.

Sometimes if I have a return I return to the store sometimes not, I'll just mail it back.

I am becoming more and more comfortable with shopping online and mailing in my returns ONLY. I hate dealing with sales people in the stores, especially when you have a return and you have to explain why you are returning something. And can I help you find something else? NO just do the return I don't have all day to stand here and gab.

I don't want to be rude to any sales people but I really don't want the small talk when I have to return something. Just process my return, be polite while doing it, I'll do the same and let me be on my way thank you. Sheesh.

Those codes do not exist anymore. If you get one,it is a one time use. Big time crackdown.

Your Chico's store should process your returns within 60 days of purchase with a smile. But, the Chico's sales people and store do get dinged for returns. So many people shop on the internet and then return to the store and it hurts the store and sales person's numbers. Not sure why people don't just send the internet purchase back rather than taking to the store. The associates are expected to do a certain amount of business and a certain amount of transactions so I'm sure you can understand why they are less than thrilled to see the returns walk in the store. Many people shop at a big Chico's and then return to a small store closer to home. Also, the sales people are required to ask why the return for the company record. Chico's computer system is not very user friendly and so some returns take longer to complete. Yes, they want to have you select something as an exchange so it doesn't hurt the store or associate as much.

Remember the $25 off $50. So few and far between now and so are my purchases.

My area has 3 stores and 1 particular has the nicest ladies! I only recently started to shop at Chico's and bought a few pretty things . And these sales ladies go out of their way to help.
